Trying to focus on the good things
Ramon and I came home from the grocery this afternoon to see a container
van parked foursquare in front of our garage gate; and one of the village
security guards holding part of a snapped cable. Ho-kay.
Got the car in the garage with a wee bit of maneuvering, then after
changing out into home clothes, discovered we had no cable TV. Promptly
called SkyCable help desk. Was put on hold - apparently people are busy
upgrading their subscriptions or what all. Was connected to an agent.
Explained problem. Was forwarded to my Concierge service. Managed to get
put on the job queue for this afternoon.
Had a nap to end all naps - you know the kind where you open your eyes
after three hours and don't feel like moving at all? That kind.
Finally got out of bed, gave cats their afternoon tea, cleaned out litter
pans, greeted the SkyCable crew when they arrived. Also, maid from around
the corner came around to tell SkyCable crew *their* connection was down.
Apparently village security corralled a SkyCable crew earlier, and they
sort of jury-rigged a solution for the broken cable. Unfortunately, that
particular crew didn't do a very good job, as they knocked out our TV
signal.
So the crew sent to our house told the maid from the other house that they
had to file their own service request to get a proper work order to fix
their problem. Crew climbed our Meralco post, twiddled stuff in the cable
connection box, and voila, TV signal back! Naturally, gave crew a little
"pamasko" in the spirit of the season.
Dinner and evening news happened. Corralled cats, everyone safe in the
kitchen, full and dozing away. Budi going through her canned food like
she's never seen food before, which is a wonderful thing. Hot water
wash-up, massaged hubby's feet, opened netbook. Read e-mail. Read
Dreamwidth. Had LiveJournal ready to go when I had to stand up and go to
the washroom. When I came back, no internet. WOE.
Called SkyCable, was put on semi-perpetual hold. Got connected to an
agent. Gave subscriber details. Agent confirmed that the Village is
having cable internet issues. Was happy to know that mine wasn't an
isolated case. Have been assured signal will be back as soon as possible
- I'm betting by midnight, when I should be going to sleep.
So. If I can't be online, now is the time to catch up on downloaded
video. *huge grin* Or check out my fanfic WIPs, drabbles, etc.
