apparently manic monday isn't done with me yet
The good news: went with hubby to see Budi-luv, bearing her favorite tinned food. Budi has improved markedly since we brought her in, however, vet and I concur to leave her overnight where she can get extra special food and stay on the dextrose. Hopefully by tomorrow she will be her olddemanding self again. Veterinary staff all indulgent of the way I was talking to our baby, and I must stay I feel better about Budi now. She's going to be a Christmas miracle, she is. *nods*
The bad news: at 10am today, the mom of one of our maids (Emily) was riding in a jeep with some relatives. They'd gone to visit Emily's grandma. The family lives in the north, which has been getting quite a bit of rain recently. The jeep was crossing a bridge when it slipped and fell into the river. Four people were sent to the nearest hospital in serious condition, but only Emily's mom passed away. Unfortunately, Emily found out around 5pm and she was all ready to run off to the province without even the money due her (!!!).
Dad forbid her to go till tomorrow morning - very early tomorrow morning - when he would give her the money due. Hopefully he will be kind enough to drive her to the gate. I told her to do what had to be done, then to just SMS me if she wanted to come back, and that Ma would be glad to have her back if she wanted.
So...I have talked with Emily, and I guess we'll have to make do with one maid for a while, but that's all right. Lanie is a good worker, and hopefully her own familial issues have settled down so she can work with a clearer outlook on life. Have made the gate pass Emily might need to exit the Village, and am planning, in a vague way, to do the laundry tomorrow.
A home service massage at the end of the holidays is looking *really* good right now, let me tell you.
