Manic Monday doesn't even begin to describe it
The morning I have had. Though in hindsight, maybe not as manic as all that, but as of this writing I feel all wrung out.
Anyway, Ramon and I had to bring our Budi-luv to the vet - I found her lying in her own pee, which is never a good sign in animals. It was a smooth drive to the Mandaluyong Circle, thank heaven, where the kind people at the admitting desk called Budi an emergency case and so she was seen to right away. They put her on an IV, and it was really something to see how quickly she responded to the dextrose. Not happy to be placed in a cage in the recovery room; her whole face was "But why is everyone so upset? I can go home now, really, I just want to sleeeeep!"
The vet ran a couple of blood tests on Budi, and apparently while her vital signs are still in the realms of low-normal, her immune system appears to be depressed. Plus, she's lost some teeth. :( :( :( Doctora said they'll give her antibiotics and vitamins, and all things being equal, our baby may be able to come home tonight. Mama is saying we should have brought her to the vet last week, but...up until this morning, Budi was eating well and using the litter pan regularly, and I always feel iffy about bringing pets to the vet when they're still eating.
Ah, well. The water runs under my bridge faster than it does under Ma's, so I will be hearing about this at regular intervals until the end of time. As it is, Ma has Budi at death's door, which is not doing my tension headache any good.
Then, fire broke out in the Mandaluyong City Hall compound just as we were going home from the vet. @_____@ Fire engines screaming bloody hell to answer the call, could see the smoke from the upper windows of the vet's clinic. Traffic managed extremely well, considering, and folks rubbernecking everywhere.
Got home. Ate a lunch that also doubled as breakfast (I bustled Ramon and Budi out of the house without bothering to eat), FOUND THE BOOK I MISPLACED A MONTH AND A HALF AGO WTH, took two Enerlax tabs (Paracetamol+Ibuprofen), wrote and printed out the gate pass for the washing machine pull out this afternoon, had Ma sign the gate pass, made coffee and drank it...and there's the doorbell!
(insert time lapse in writing this entry while i play Lady Bountiful to the maintenance crew)
That was fun! The medicine is taking hold, and am feeling much better for having finished with a pleasant Christmas tradition. Usually it's Ma who does the distribution, but this year she's feeling her age and I don't think she slept well last night, either. So it fell to me to laugh and thank the crew for all they have done for us this year.
Cliche as it sounds, it looks like things will get better. *is shot*
Will need to drop off a Christmas box of ensaimada at the vet's after things are settled with Budi-luv, one way or another. Will need to find a way to manage my new debt, but I live in faith that God will find a way for me - I just need to see where the way is, is all.
Need new eyeglasses. Want new frames, which is a totally different thing, of course. If I just replace my current lenses, then I save on frames...frames that need to be adjusted, they feel crooked, I don't even know how that goes down.
Have declared to both the universe in general and my husband in particular, that the moment I am done with all the gifting obligations, I am going to have a home service massage, the better to fall asleep after it. *nods firmly* Right now, the house is happily asleep, and I would like to follow suit, except for the fact that the 27yr-0ld washing machine is going to be pulled out by 3pm. Finally!
Maybe in a little bit, I'll take a shower. Cool water always does well for my thinking processes.

BTW: "Manic Monday" is by Susanna Hoffs (formerly of the Bangles) and not Cyndi Lauper

Thank you for correcting me on the song credit. Why I thought it was Cyndi Lauper, I do not know. But then again, this holiday season seems to have addled my brains. Imagine, that book I found that had been misplaced for so long? It was *on my husband's shelf* in fairly plain sight all along. OY!
