(no subject) for lack of a better line
My brain feels just barely within the realms of functional. It's like this huge wave of tiredness rolled over me, and I'm now floating on its surface after coming up from under. Don't get me wrong, I have had very good days this past week, not counting the scratchy throat that tried to become a full-blown cold, but didn't. Maybe the occasional bouts of coughing are what's making me tired - once I start, I keep going like the Energizer bunny. *sigh*
So...since the general mild malaise is here to stay for a while, I'll just let it run its course and remind myself about the nice things that have been going on. *goes to consult Twitter blog*
Most recently - I remembered to defrost the beef shank in time to make a slow-cooker stew. My usual throw it all in the pot style: shank, garbanzos, mushrooms, carrots, onion, potato; then let it sit for nearly seven hours on low setting. Result? One hellacious good stew, even if I'm the one who cooked it.
Yesterday, I caved and bought a Cherry phone. It is the cutest little thing - bright canary yellow, plastic casing, the most barebones screen ever seen on a phone (if you're comparing it to Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, etc)! Follow this link to see what the new toy looks like. Just the right thing for my PLDT Landline Plus SIM - easy to operate, makes calls with decent voice quality (as tested on my answering machine), QWERTY keyboard for quick text messaging. Best part, it only cost P1,300 at the outlet in Cash and Carry. *grin* So was able to soothe my techno-lust at minimal cost, including strap and pouch.
Which means the LG is now my pocket camera (at 3MP, it's decent enough for the daytime pictures)! And all my phones are paid for! *happy ditzy dance*
Saturday: A cat died in our garage. The maids saw it when Dad backed out the car on his way to an early golf date - by the time I saw it, it was starting to smell *gag* - the Village security could not come fast enough. Trisha actually had the temerity to suggest that the deceased was our Ziggy; when I pointed out the cat was too big, she put forth the fact that dead things bloat. I gave her my patented Glare of Doom and told her that given it took her 1.5 days to notice Ziggy was even missing, and that I had hand-raised kitteh, she was not in a position to insist that the poor deceased was our baby. *growl* Wrong coloring and age, not our cat.
Christmas carols are playing in Alphaland...WHY. No, don't answer that, rhetorical question, I know perfectly well why. Sat through an estate planning seminar sponsored by the barangay, which was actually an educational way of getting people to buy insurance as a hedge against estate taxes.
Friday: Went to Glorietta 5 after what seems to be a century. Hubby discovered a Pepper Steak outlet, I bought Dad an annotated copy of The Revised Family Code. Popped into Dreams to covet all the new yarn and renewed resolution to at least start a pair of legwarmers before the year ends, dammit. *sigh*
Well, that's about all the highlights I feel like recapping. Sleep is wrapping itself around me, so I guess I'd better sign off while still coherent. Catch you all whenever!

Sorry about the cat, it's always a sad thing. A tom died in the ncf makati garage and the security guards put forth the theory that the rats did it. Yeah, like a rat could twist a cat's neck. Trisha was just indulging in the gloomy satisfaction of the provincial.
