Life aside from the recent headline events
I've come to the conclusion that from this point on, the less I follow the aftermath of the hostage crisis, the better for my mental health. I'll just wait for the headlines to scream the latest earth-shaking developments/conclusions.
The basic tenor of my days has been fairly even. Ma's physiotherapist comes on Tuesdays and Fridays. Fridays are also for personal malling time - that is to say, being able to ramble around SM Makati or Gaisano or SM Hypermart without any clear agenda except for getting cat supplies. To look at what the department stores have on the racks at leisure is a wonderful thing. Sundays are for the serious business of (a) refilling Ramon's prescriptions, (b) Sunday brunch and (d) family groceries; checking out BookSale, Japan Home, CD-R King, and my blind massage therapy time are extras. Though the massage sessions are becoming an integral part of my Sunday ritual.
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are supposed to be my "rest at home" days, per maternal decree. In reality, these are the laundry days - I prefer to keep Ramon's and my laundry separate from the parents', lest his clothes get mixed up with Daddy's and I end up with Ma's dusters as well as my own. These are also the days I have time to scrutinize the maintenance of the litter pans, take note of wonky bulbs for replacement, catch up with my online life, do general cleaning, and otherwise try to make headway with pending projects. In-between socializing with the kittens and napping, of course.
Have been working up a good sweat with general cleaning. I guess it's because the approach of year-end makes me want to get a head start on an uncluttered holiday season. Definitely equivalent to a gym workout - just have to remember to keep hydrated.
Brought Dad to the new Terminal 3 building so he could buy a plane ticket to Dumaguete for his brother's birthday on September 4. I have reservations about his idea of staying just one night, but then again, even if he leaves early in the morning on September 4, at least he'll take the afternoon flight home - upon my firm recommendation. What, leave Manila in the early hours of the morning of the 4th, celebrate his brother's 75th birthday on the evening of the 4th, and think about catching the morning flight on the 5th? NO. NO NO NO. Especially since he'd have to be at the airport three hours in advance of the flight - NO. The man is 87 years old, for the love of God, even if he feels like a spring chicken; at least he sensibly requested for assistance during boarding/disembarkation. I fully expect that Dad's relatives will take very good care of him when he arrives - I hope they let him have a long nap before the party and not drive him hither and yon.
Ramon and Dad have their cardio check up on September 3rd. Pre-check-up blood extraction on Monday (which is a holiday, I think). Must remember to pick up hash browns and apple pie from McDo for Ma while the men are in the path lab.
Today was change the litter day - a task that the kittens observed with great attention. They do love new litter - once I'd set up the freshly cleaned pans and filled them with new litter, there was a race to see who could be the first in the pans, oy. This before the pans even made it back to their original places inside the house! Have learned that I must keep close watch on when to change the litter - the maid seems to be a wee bit clueless about the signs indicating the need for changing the pan contents. Ah well. Exercise is good for the soul, and at least the pans weigh less with this coco peat litter.
Also, changed the bulbs on the insect lamp. Noticed one going wonky last night, so unplugged lamp. Sent maid up our main ladder to get the lamp down, had her clean it, set up the new bulbs, and voila! Functional bug lamp. *happy dance*
Yesterday was fun day - so much fun that I forgot to get one of Ramon's prescription meds at Watson. *sigh* Well, there's always Save More at Pasong Tamo/EDSA, hopefully I can get it there after our traditional stop at Mercury Santuario tomorrow.
Life goes on, and it is good. Tomorrow it should be better. *grin*
