Primus, one of our rescue kittens, was hit by a car while he was crossing our street. He was four months old, and much loved, and will be missed terribly.
Thank you for the sympathy. *sigh* As I just told one mailing list, it's the occupational hazard of indoor/outdoor pets. And it doesn't help to remember that only this morning Primus was all sweet and demanding cuddles and falling asleep on my chest.
On the other hand, he was definitely loved and made much of as a rescue kitten. Better than starving to death with his siblings that night.
It's funny, but all the rest of the kittens kept following after me all day today - in spite of it being a very nice day for being outdoors. And they were so good about not scratching the furniture, too.
As if they were trying to cheer me up, like. By evening they were all back to their usual antics in the lanai - until a thunderstorm sent them all packing inside. Hee!
Thankfully Primus' siblings didn't show any signs of particularly missing him, or I'd have been sniffling all day today. As it was, all the rest of the kittens kept close to me today of their own volition - even though it was a glorious day for romping in the garden.
By evening all was back to normal, and after dinner, they were let out into the lanai, where they went rampaging about until a thunderstorm drove them all back in.
"Marmar, what was that noise? It's scary!" their faces said. :)
At least we know he was loved and petted and had a good life for the time he was with us, instead of starving in the night, poor wee baby.
The rest of the kittens were amazingly well-behaved today...no scratching on the furniture, no jumping onto the tables. Just following me around, asking for attention and FOOD. *grin*
A thunderstorm tonight drove all of them back in from the lanai with this "Marmar! What's that scary noise!" expression on all their faces. Followed by, "WE CAN HAZ FUD NAO, Y/Y?" LOL!
