Satisfaction is...
...looking at an empty in-tray. Yesterday was the day of the quarterly
dividend, and I let go a huge exhalation of relief, having made it
through the past four months on a shoestring budget.
As a result of the new cash inflow, I was able to pay off all the
billing statements in full, and make checks for two charities I
support. No wild extravagances scheduled for my immediate future,
though. I still have three credit card balances to pay off (hospital
charges from last year, the LG Cookie, the LCD TV), along with the
recurring bills, to keep me on the straight and narrow. Plus,
Christmas is coming. This means trips to Central Market and
Divisoria, both of which require funds in order to be executed
properly.
For the moment, am relaxed in the knowledge that the new cook can
indeed cook; and the maid, even if still scatter-brained, can clean
properly (as long as one takes the initiative to pick up the slack for
what she leaves undone); that there is money in the bank for the
future (and that the phone lines work so that the money machines allow
you to get your money).
Now off to a nap.
