Taking a look around the house

We hired a cook/general help yesterday. A bit rough around the edges,
manners-wise, but apparently she has stovetop skills, so we'll see how
things go. I find that I've dropped into certain patterns of behavior
that I don't really feel like changing; even with good help, a
housewife can never wholly give up the supervisory side of her own
home. In addition, it seems that I am, most times, the one with the
"radar" - the only one who hear the doorbell, the cats, motorcycles
coming up to the house, Ma calling for me...*chuckle*

There's a definite feeling of lightness about the office space now
that I've decluttered it. Am contemplating moving the computer
workstation around again, but I'm not quite sure how to get things
settled right. It would definitely involved rearranging all the items
on the shelves - and in the current heat, I'm not sure I'm up to
becoming a dust magnet right now. My arms have broken out in heat
rashes, and even if I don't scratch them, they fade into tiny little
brown spots. *sadface* The only thing I can do is put calamine lotion
on the itchy spots. Moisturizer in this heat is something I can't
even contemplate - though a really thin layer on my face is the most I
can manage at night, with the electric fan blasting directly over me.

But I swear, someday I will achieve decent-looking skin again.
*strikes Scarlett O'Hara pose* *is shot*

May is on its last legs, and I am cherishing the hope that June will
be as productive. All be it in mercy, nine-tenths of my efforts this
month were concentrated on catching-up, which in itself created new
things that need to be done. Digital files have been organized. Movie
discs are being organized (Daiso DVD cases FTW). Crafting supplies
organized. Linens and similar organized. Office supplies in usable
condition, packed away for donation. Ditto for old clothes. Utility
room which houses recyclables cleaned (with assistance from maid), and
recyclables organized, bagged, and tagged (cannot wait for next
recycling fair, or eco-aide to pass by my house). Security light
moved to the front corner of the house, thereby lighting always-dark
pedestrian gate and garden at night. New CFL bulbs bought and
installed in various places around the house.

Kinda sounds like I'm bragging - but encouragement begins at home, and
I may as well raise my own flag, as it were, even if it's only here on
my journal. Anyhow, I'm being called down to lunch, so more stuff
later, if I can manage it. I feel under-dosed in the writing
department.
