So this is how dried fish must feel

Been busy this week. I have a huge backlog of pages to read on my
"Read It Later" list. Am sleepy and don't feel like doing much of
anything, beyond posting an update entry.

I actually - lo and behold! - got down to burning off all the files on
my external hard drives that I've been meaning to burn. As a result,
I wound up with an empty 160GB external HDD. It's not empty anymore,
though. After learning how to use the backup tool that comes with
Linux Mint, I backed up my /home directory to the external, and did
some more shifting around of files. So the current status looks like
this:

*Laptop HDD: all current files in progress
*Iomega 80GB: all the music files, in essence the music library for
Ma's Sony Walkman
*WD Passport 160GB: backups from the laptop HDD at regular intervals
(and always before upgrading system)
*Maxtor 160GB: all the video files and photographs (yiii, do not
remember if the photos are in the Passport or in here; but that they
are backed up, that much I know)

I did quite a bit of spring-cleaning of the office space, which sprang
from the simple act of packing the first donation box for charity.
Once the clothes and last year's magazines were packed away, my
attention went to office supplies that are in good condition but have
yet to be used. Those went into a fresh box.

As a result of all the rummaging about (and nearly sabotaging my own
efforts by sitting down to read some of the books I rediscovered after
I culled the books I wanted to donate), my storage system re-invented
itself. Things look somewhat neater now, especially covered by my
ancient Snoopy bedspread.

I even managed to partially disassemble, adjust, and reassemble my
Ikea-like cabinets! (Ye gods, THE DUST OF ALL AGES.)

It's fun, seeing how much space you can gain after cleaning and
dusting. On the other hand, the physical effort does take a toll, and
the achess from those exertions are still making themselves felt.

Yesterday was parental laundry day. At least the temps in excess of
90 Farenheit are good for *something* besides melting me down into my
constituent molecules.

Today was grocery day at Cash and Carry. Hit all the usual spots.
Treated myself to a full body therapeutic massage; discovered muscles
I had no idea were getting clogged and knotted. Feeling more human
again, though as I said - sleepy.

Tomorrow is my turn for laundry, and a visit from the termite control
people. Will see if maybe a nap is in my immediate future as well.
