Enjoying the quiet time
It's nearly 2pm in Manila, hot as the bottom of a frying pan over high
heat, electric fans are running, the cats are sleeping, parents are
napping, hubby is also online. All is well, and I am relishing some
quiet time before things get active tomorrow.
Am happy that Sailing to Sarantium is becoming more interesting
as I read it. Maybe it's a factor of age, but if I could do things
over, I'd get a book with somewhat larger print. The size and font of
my edition does not make for very easy reading - or maybe I'm abusing
my eyes, who knows. About five or six pages a day isn't so bad,
though...and it's a "bathroom book", which should give you an idea of
one way I manage to get through my book-reading. *grin*
Did Ma's laundry today, and it smells wonderful on the lines outside
my window. At the rate the sun is shining, I expect every last piece
of fabric on the line to be sun-sanitized by the power of the UV rays
by the time they come off.
Refilled the genset before lunch, with a minimum of spillage for a
change; tomorrow will have to refill the jerricans.
Eh. Just realized I haven't caught up with LiveJournal yet. Never
mind, I have a new idea for my Shadow Skill fic - if things work out,
one of my little drabbles will have new home as a chapter, with a
little expansion to boot. *glee* Also feel the Slam Dunk! chapter
shaping itself, and it should be ready to write before too long.
ETA: Meh. Accidentally closed the browser, and then the power went
out. Waited ten minutes before turning on the generator (wasn't it
lucky we topped it off this morning?), and have discovered that we
still have cable TV and the internet. May as well send this off while
the going is good - the timing of the power outage is a treat, right
during the hottest hours of the day!
Still, can enjoy the latest episodes of Spartacus: Blood and
Sand and the new Dr. Who while I'm waiting for the lights to come
back. Or write. Or take a nap. See, life can go on, even without
electricity - up to a point!
