Palm Sunday
It is the official start of the Holy Week here in the Philippines -
and anywhere else where the Catholic religion is predominant. (Am not
sure that the Protestants make a similar to-do about the entire week,
or if the emphasis is more on the Easter Triduum.) So in keeping with
tradition, I went to Mass with Ramon and Dad - Ma opted to stay home
partly because of her hip and partly because she's having issues with
the current scandals in the priesthood. Bought palms from the vendors
outside the church rather from the Catholic Women's League - got three
palms for Php30 each; have no idea how much CWL would have been
selling theirs, but since proceeds were to maintain poor seminarians,
I don't think I would have minded that much.
Anyway. Joined the rite of the blessing of the palms, which this year
began at the adoration chapel. It was interesting to see how many
people deserted the procession once their palms were blessed - though
really, the stage manager should have made it clear from the start how
the event was supposed to go; I certainly didn't know there was a
route to be followed, being an Easter/Christmas parishioner and all.
As usual, the liturgy was inspiring. Inspiring as well, to see how
much of it has remained with me, I was mouthing the first reading,
responsorial psalm, and second reading. The all-male choir provided
an interesting rendering of "The Prayer of St. Francis," in that I did
not recognize the words or the melodic arrangement thereof. *meep*
Of course, it takes my husband to point out that we were seated
directly behind Annabelle Rama and Eddie Gutierrez, the parents of
Ruffa, whose children Venice and Lorin were seated in the pew opposite
with their nannies. Hm. Beautiful children, if at the age where they
get restless during the Mass, though well-behaved with the fidgeting.
As opposed to the kids who want to wander all over the church during
the readings.
After the Mass, bought Ramon's Mercury Drug prescriptions. Dad
dropped by Rustan's, and once he'd finished, we dropped him and his
groceries at the house. Went to Alphaland to do the stop-drop-pickup
thing with Ramon's Generic Pharmacy medicines, discovered I left my
phone at home, and then passed by the house to pick-up the phone and
drop off Ramon's bunch of medicines.
Park Square One parking next, then lunch at SM Chow King when Max's
proved to be too crowded. Started growing a headache from noise and
too little sleep, or maybe the atmospherics - there was a huge black
cloud looming over the city when we entered the mall.
Lunch was good. Set Ramon free to tootle around the mall, discovered
I'd left his medical folder in the car, went back to the car and
retrieved the folder, then discovered Watson's doesn't carry Karvil
(Carvedilol) 6.25 but that the Mercury Drug across the street does.
*grin* So that was a good thing. Rambled around Watson's after coming
back to SM. Tried to ask about the Pet Express that Jessica Zafra
mentioned might already be open in SM Makati - nobody knew any such
thing about it.
So onward into the breach...or rather, into the supermarket.
Discovered that Monterey is no longer the meat supplier of choice,
rather, the new label is called Farm Fresh. Tried a few cuts,
hopefully these will work out well. Managed to pick up everything on
the list, and, as usual, a few things that were not. There's a new
Friskies kibble flavor - Salmon Hairball Control, so picked up 2 bags.
Stopped by the lettuce bar to pick up some leaves and other goodies
for a dinner salad. *makes mental note to put salad dressing on next
week's grocery list*
Came home, settled groceries, life as usual. Headache vanished after
cold shower, which was a relief in very many ways.
On the writing front, have taken my life in my hands and uploaded that
Slam Dunk! fic (the one I've always called "the onsen fic" for the
location of the resolution of the story), all thirteen chapters of it,
to both FF.net and MM.org. Which means...I have incentive to write
chapter 14, if only I can figure out how a boy can be trapped by a
girl into kissing her. I know it can be done, I've seen it in the
movies, but...how to write it, that's the thing. I guess I'll have to
talk to myself on paper until the chapter comes out - heaven knows,
that's how I revived my current Shadow Skill fic. *grin*
Tweaked my Speed Dial settings in Opera for the umpteenth time.
Changed my LiveJournal layout. Tapped out the start of another fanfic
based on the copious notes I made recently; after encoding said
copious notes into a file for future reference! Other than that, just
your usual Sunday. A nice, full day, and now I'm looking forward to
sleeping in tomorrow.

What is your account on ff.net if you don't mind me asking?

On the other hand, may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. *LOL* We'll see.
Oh, and on FF.net, I'm...*runs off to check*...
