It's still Saturday....?

*yawn* Well, it's been quite the weekend, for sure. Friday was
Ramon's birthday, and today's highlight was attending a presentation
that I didn't really want to attend. Ah well.

So, Friday. The original idea was to:
**drop Ramon off at the
LTO for his new license
**pick up papers needed by US cousin from
his bank
**order Amber's pancit malabon in time for dinner.
That
*was the original plan. The part where I dropped Ramon off at the LTO
for his new license went like clockwork. Then things started to get
skewed from there, because I overshot the bank branch that I was
supposed to go to, and when I asked for directions, was promptly
directed to the main branch on the wrong street (which should have
told me something right there, but didn't.

Then Dad called, telling me we had to go get a replacement for
Jocelyn, the maid who has been with us a scant three weeks. I...don't
even know, she and our cook/all-around Rose were working like two peas
in a pod when I left the house that morning. I told Dad there was no
way I was going to go home without getting my hands on those papers,
and he would just have to wait for me.

Which meant, of course, that I had to walk from the Metrobank
behind the DBP all the way to the Metrobank Jupiter Street branch.
Not that I have any complaints against the actual walking - I love
walking. Just not in the summer heat at 10:00 in the morning at 35
degrees Celsius. Just not when I have been told to scoot my butt over
to the house asap. But in the end, I got to the branch and I got the
papers, the whole procedure taking less time to accomplish than to
tell, it seems.

So, home. Ramon had to have lunch at SM, seeing as how he couldn't
leave the license processing. It cost him Php400 for the drug test,
and Php480 for the license, in the end. Got down from the car, paid
our pretty little PT, discovered she had no ride, and in the interests
of sparing her from potential skin cancer, I brought her to the MRT
station just outside the Amorsolo gate of the Village.

Home, redux. Talked to the employment agency, arranged to interview
the applicants once I'd finished lunch. Ordered the pancit malabon
from Amber's. Freshened up, left the house at 1.30pm, just as Ramon
messaged me that he was all done with the LTO, could I pick him up at
the Glorietta entrance of SM? Which I did, and then we sped off to
the agency, where I interviewed the two applicants recommended to
replace Jocelyn. I decided that Mercedita (or Edita for short) would
be a good fit with Rose, since she seems a capable sort of person who
knows how to present herself in public. The other applicant,
considering she was a cook, was rather slovenly in appearance, and the
vibe she was sending out raised my hackles completely - not likely to
go over very well with either Dad or Ma.

Arrangements were made to collect Edita on Monday, since Jocelyn's
last day is on Sunday. That done, Ramon and I took a less-travelled
road home, and I like the idea of a new route to use. Once back home,
life settled down to the usual, until dinner. *grin*

Oooh, such a dinner as it was! Cake from the barangay, Amber's
pancit, and sopas with Majestic ham bits. PERFECT. Granted, poor
Ramon was allowed only a paper-thin slice of cake, being a diabetic,
but he enjoyed the meal anyway.

* * * * *

Today's major accomplishment was doing Dad's laundry. *nods* That,
and going through my bookshelves to check which volumes I no longer
wanted hanging around, and moving the oldest unread books to the front
of the shelves. It was fun rediscovering the titles I have -
including the duplicate hardcover copy of Tom Clancy's Red
Rabbit
, which is now sitting in the donation box for the Salesian
Missions.

Naturally, after cleaning/sorting the bookshelves, I went and
tidied up what I could from the office space. Rediscovered the
VibaBelt that Dad handed off to me, and now it sits beside the
computer table, so I can strap it on to soothe my aching back at the
end of the day. Collected bits and pieces from various boxes, and
consolidated them such that the papers and plastics for the next
recycling fair, each have their own separate basket. So much easier
to pack when donation time comes around!

Then off to that seminar, which was actually some form of
recruitment program for a group that claims they can teach you
"financial literacy" for free, all you have to do is pay Php2500 to
help them pay the rent; and spread the word to your friends and
relations. Huh. It's a sign that I should not join, when every time
the speaker makes one of his "golden points", I find myself thinking
"Ma taught me that the moment I could hold money..." Besides, it's
really not me. So there's those that are going to see the stubborn,
unyielding side of me if they make the mistake of nagging me to join
their merry band.

Greenbelt next. Healthy Options, to buy Ma's glucosamine. World
Chicken for a proper meal, as the seminar did not serve a snack while
I was there - you can believe I was out of the venue as soon as was
decently possible, considering that I was HUNGRY. When I told hubby
about the lack of sustenance, he messaged me in mock outrage: "Leave
NOW. HOW DARE THEY NOT FEED MY MISSIS!" *giggle* See why I love him
so?

Ramon joined me at World Chicken, and then left for National
Bookstore while I bought a box of Bicho Bicho to bring home, and
popped into Japan Home Center for a couple of organizer things.

By the time we got home, my legs were all "owie, ow ow ow ow" from
all the unaccustomed walking from yesterday. Nothing debilitating, I
just have to make sure they don't get chilled tonight or I will have
cramping.

So that's about it. Two days in capsule format. Tomorrow is meds
and groceries, as per household routine, maybe I'll have the chance
for a nap then. Ciao!
