Thursday afternoon drive-by post

Supposed to give the gardener's salary at 3pm, which means no nap time for
me. But that's all right - I got some major fanfic stuff done, and it has
shed a positively beatific light on my day. Which, considering my day
started at around 4.45am this morning, is quite the major accomplishment.

Why was I up so early, despite getting to bed at nearly 2am this morning?
Basically, it was just too hot to sleep any longer. Then, an idea that was
ticking in my head demanded to manifest itself, so there was really nothing
for it but to fire up the laptop and see what would happen.

Why did I get to bed at nearly 2am in the first instance? Because, having
decided to pwn my fanfic, I started re-posting the stuff I'd taken down
nearly what - two years or more ago? - and hang the consequences. No
reviews, bad reviews, one-line reviews, whatever reviews...if I get them,
I'm fine. If I don't, I'm fine too. What matters most is that I write the
fics out of my system, and get them up where they can survive computer
crashes. Though it goes without saying that I will always have a backup of
the things somewhere.

In any event, I started reviewing my fics and saving the ones ready for
uploading into RTF files, which apparently, with me, works best when putting
up stuff on MediaMiner and FanFiction.net (yes, the Pit of Voles). I really
got a kick out of the fact that a 3-chapter story became a 5-chapter story
by the time I finished with it. Divided the original chapter 3, and ended
up with a little extra for chapter 5, which I expanded with a back story.

Of course, this revised back story puts a new twist in my alternate
universe, but hey. The timeline now makes more sense - as do a few other
relationships! *insert happy bouncing here*

So by the time lunch rolled around, all the fics that needed to be posted
were posted, and I have my hands free to get down with the WIP that set a
squib under my sleeping muses. *grin*

It really feels good to be making stories again. :)
