Having myself a merry Christmas :)

It's Christmas Eve, and while I'm writing this, it wants just two hours
before Christmas morning - and my birthday. *grin*

I've got the TV on, so this is not likely to be one of those deeply
introspective (or as we say in Tagalog nakabagbag damdamin) posts.
As it happens, what's playing is a replay of an show I never got to finish
the first time around, so maybe I'll have better luck now.

Today has been quiet. The cook took her day off, and will be back tomorrow
morning. The new maid has done quite well in her absence, except for the
part where she broke the melamine serving spoon for the rice. She was using
it to scrape the old rice out of the cooker, instead of one of the stainless
steel ones. Ah, well. We now have a reason to look for another melamine
serving spoon! *grin*

We will not be having the Noche Buena dinner - usually our big midnight
dinner is on New Year's Eve, when it is mandatory that everyone stay up from
10pm onwards. I have a strong feeling that with the new TV in the living
room, Ma will be enjoying the wait for the New Year more than usual. The
menu will be simple: a half-leg of ham, Ma's fruit salad, and spaghetti. I
will be making the sauce, and getting hungry now at the thought of it. I
need to buy grapes and apples and pongkans - not much, maybe a half dozen of
the last two and a kilo of grapes - for the traditional round fruits. Not
much more than that; I'm the only person in the family now who is neither
finicky nor on dietary restrictions, so a huge groaning table is not going
to be very practical.

Birthday tomorrow. Moving closer to being a "golden girl", three more years,
in fact. My, how the time flies when you are living. *grin* I can say that
it's been a good life, even with all it's WTF moments. These past two
years, definitely, have been full of WTF. But Ramon's come a long way since
those horrible first days, and I cannot thank God enough for all the love
and support that has come from all around me - and I'm including the online
population in that. So give yourself permission to feel all warm and fuzzy,
people! *hugs*

OK. Since New Year's Eve is when most people do their year-end reflections,
that's about as reflective as I'll get in this entry. I have plans for
tomorrow that include a leisurely drive up to Tagaytay, where the air ought
to be fresh and clean. Hopefully not too much traffic, but we'll see about
that when we get there. Personally, if Gourmet's Cafe is open, I wouldn't
mind camping out there for lunch and coffee. On the other hand, it should
be interesting to see what Summit Ridge looks like now. Me being me, I'm
going to play it totally by ear. The only time I've really ever dealt well
with schedules is when I've been on tour with my parents; and even then, it
always fell on me to keep them on time and organized, which left me tired
out by the end of the tour.

I hope everyone has a blessed and renewing holiday season. May you have the
celebration that suits you best (for after all, not everyone is into
extended familial gatherings), and leaves you looking forward to the New
Year.

Happy Holidays!

Thank you! :)

I love that userpic. Am in awe of anyone who would string up all those lights on a saguaro cactus, for sure.
