A whole lot of days in one entry

Ahhh...fresh out of the shower and the electric fan blasting onto the laptop and me. Not a bad combination at all. Been doing some tweaking of posting settings for Twitter and blog updates and things; apparently it looks like I've got a nice little set-up. Am using HootSuite as my Twitter client now. It's web-based, and it has Ping.fm integration. This means, if I post a tweet to HootSuite, it goes straight into Twitter, and then via Ping.fm, to three other accounts (Tumblr, FriendFeed, and Multiply). I haven't tried it out yet, but I've set my photoblog (Blogger/Blogspot) and main blog (LiveJournal) to feed into HootSuite as well. In theory this means a new post on either blog ends up as a status message on four accounts (Twitter, Tumblr, FriendFeed, and Multiply). The entries themselves will appear on Dreamwidth, cross-posted to Livejournal; and via Ping.fm to Tumblr, Wordpress, Multiply and Vox.

Confusing, isn't it? *grin* Reads like a family tree with "cousins, just cousins" written all over it.

So the last full-bodied entry was on the Wednesday, Aug-19. What happened after that? According to my Twitter notes, I spent most of the next day catching up on things after the hectic period from Aug-14 to Aug-19. I do believe this was the day of sorting through receipts and updating expense logs, and putting the loose change into the money jar. There was sleeping involved as well, I think - there's a huge gap in the twitter feed that that started around 1:30pm and ended at 8:19pm. So sleep, shower, dinner, settle the cats, online until I went to bed.

August 21, 2009 - anniversary of Ninoy Aquino's assassination. Didn't leave the house, didn't do anything of note, beyond taking Dad down to the ATM. My mind is drawing a perfect blank here. This might have been the day that I installed the Chromium browser on my system (Chromium is the mother project on which Google's Chrome browser is based) so it's a good bet that I spent most of my online time tweaking and figuring how things worked. For the curious, I have this much to say about Chromium - it's fast. It trounces Swiftfox on my Linux Mint OS, which is saying something because I always thought Swiftfox was fast. Thing is, I have been thoroughly spoiled by all the Firefox extensions, and since Chromium is pretty much a beta project, it doesn't have much going for it aside from speed at the moment. Although it's easy enough to create workarounds, and the start page is an awesome thing, and you get an incredible amount of screen real estate while browsing. Worth checking out once it's a settled, official build, certainly.

August 22, 2009 - went to a special meeting of WOMFI (Women of Malolos, Inc.) to discuss plans for the upcoming 10th anniversary. Which reminds me that I have to type up some notes from there and e-mail them to the people concerned. After that, I paid off the dues on a credit card that will, according to the bank, be discontinued and upgraded into a Rustan's Gold Card. It will be interesting to see how this works out. I paid the card at the Bills Counter of SM Makati, and after a quick sort of snack time, Ramon and I pottered about the department store before picking up some groceries. Then home and good long lie-down, because I was feeling totally whacked out.

August 23, 2009 - yesterday, right? Grocery day at our supermarket-mall of choice: Cash-n-Carry. Seriously, I do enjoy the place. First, though, a quick stop at Mercury Drug to refill some of Ramon's prescriptions. Mainly the ones without generic equivalents. We thought we would try out The Generics Pharmacy (which has a branch in Cash-n-Carry) for whatever medicines Ramon had with generic equivalents. Now say what you like about generics, but for the past 2.5 years or so, Ramon's weekly medical bill is something in the neighborhood of Php 1.8K and anything we can do to bring down the bill will be tried at least once. Just to give you an idea, here's a list of the meds with generic equivalents and pricing thereof:
**Metformin HCL, 500mg (Glucophage): RiteMed generic=4.50//Generics Pharma=1.70
**Gliclazide, 80mg (Diamicron): RiteMed generic=5.85//Generics Pharma=5.80
**Clopidogrel, 75mg (Plavix): Mercury Drug=61.75//Generics Pharma=44.50
**Furosemide, 40mg (Lasix): Mercury Drug=10.25//Generics Pharma=1.30
**Rosuvastatin, 10mg (Crestor): Mercury Drug=63.25//Generics Pharma=19.75

So we have a week's supply of these medicines, I am actually looking forward to the day when Ramon's entire list of medicines can be filled at Generics Pharma. We learned to refill his prescriptions on a weekly basis, just on the off chance that during a check-up, Dr. Gatmaitan might remove a pill completely. Having a week's supply means we don't have to use up that many tablets before switching to a new dosage.

I had myself a foot massage. Would have wanted to combine it with a scalp massage, but instead went for the combi foot-upper back massage and it turned out rather well. I felt like I had my head screwed on straight when I walked out of the day spa, and that was good. Bought two books from BookSale: The Sum of All Fears and a William Monk mystery (he and Hester are newlyweds, awwww). Groceries after that, and then home, where I stuck my poor arms under cool running water in order to bring down the heat rash that refuses to go away. *unhappy* For the most part, you can't see it unless the light catches my arms a particular way, and then you see the rash just under the skin, waiting for an excuse to pop up. Bought generic allergy cream to spread over the bumps when they start to itch; I'm not too fond of the idea of drinking antihistamine unless the condition turns really ugly and itchy - which it has not, thank the good Lord!

Today was a quiet day at home. Did Dad's laundry. Caught up with email, feeds, LiveJournal and enough of Twitter to not feel a social outcast. *grin* No nap, but a good long shower. Wrote checks for Ma, had the maintenance crew come in to look at our guest room/den bidet (and Ma wants them to see about replacing the faucets now). Have just dusted my arms with prickly heat powder and the world is looking good for now. Time to sign off and see what else I can do with the rest of the night.
