The Week Thus Far
Apparently LoudTwitter seems to be back - was startled to see that my LJ was last updated 18 hours ago, when I know I hardly had time to post an entry. So I took a peek, and hey presto! It's LoudTwitter working again, with all my tweets under a cut, they way they should be. This sent me scrambling over to my various journals, to check which ones I signed up with Twittenesis when LoudTwitter went down; my Wordpress mirror was the only one that needed tweaking, though. So it's all good now.
Feeling a bit sleepy and quite full at the moment. It's been busy for me since the last time I posted. As it is, I'm not even sure I want to recount everything that happened in too much detail...starting to feel fuzzy again. It must be the digestive process. :) In any case, I'll start with a bullet-point chronology and then see where the story takes me, to use the CNN tagline:
** Aug 14 - I don't remember anything that happened last Friday. Uh-oh! Most probably laundry.
** Aug 15 - Saturday. Discover check late on Aug 12 has cleared, thus enabling me to pay off credit card bill. Also, refill Ramon's prescriptions and go visit the new Southgate Mall at the Alpha Land building, just a stone's throw away from the Amorsolo gate of the village. Lunch was had at Teriyaki Boy, then we went exploring. It's a pretty little place, and it has a branch of The Generics Pharmacy that we'd like to try. (I checked out their website and one of Ramon's generic meds can be had for at least Php 2.50 cheaper, and another for nearly Php 8.00. Whoa there.) The flea market on the third floor looks like a mini-Greenhills, all phone vendors and dibidi vendors and even a mothership of a CD-R King. Ramon and I are "chuffed" as our Aussie friends would say, to discover such a nice place to shop so close to home. Our only nitpick at the moment is the basement, a bit tight and the air is still laden with cement particles. No elevators yet, either.
** Aug 16 - Ramon got his new denture, and we "road-tested" it at the Glorietta Food Court. Then we did the groceries for the week.
** Aug 17 - Spa day at the Dusit Devarana with Ma. Couldn't have come at a better time; I zoned out into perfect bliss and would cheerfully have gone on napping for at least another hour. *grin* We had lunch at the hotel coffee shop, which was not exactly of the standard you'd expect out of a five-star hotel. Not unpleasant, just that we felt quite abandoned by the server in charge; whenever we turned to look for her, she wasn't there! Got home, and my cycle began not two minutes after I stepped into the house - great timing.
** Aug 18 - Dinner with family friends at Italianni's. Oh, the fuss that Ma made for everything to be just right! Lots of deep breathing on my part, but in the end, our guests found the restaurant, there was enough food to feed everyone, and there was much happy conversation all around. I was immensely relieved by the time we got home, you can bet on that!
** Aug 19 - Today I was all set to stay home after doing my laundry, only Ma reminded me to go light a candle at Santuario for Gramma's death anniversary. So off we went, Ramon and I, and afterwards, we dropped by S&R at the Fort. Just to see if it was worth keeping the membership. I mean, it's not like we do the groceries regularly there, and what we need there, you can tick off on the fingers of one hand - it hardly seems worth the gas it takes to get there, if that's your only destination. Based on what we came home with, the membership is still safe for the time being. *grin*
Other random events worth mentioning: the maintenance crew passed by to clarify some things about replacing the fiberglass roof over the laundry area. I told them I could care less what color the roofing was, as long as it let in enough light to dry the laundry - we'd leave aesthetic issues to Ma, but we were all agreed on fiberglass for roofing material. Of course, I was out when they dropped by to show me the samples, but tomorrow is still a working day, so that's no problem. The water delivery people didn't show up today either, but hopefully they will do that tomorrow. Friday is a holiday (anniversary of Ninoy Aquino's assassination) or so I hear, which means people who need to see me will definitely find me at home. Doing laundry again, Ma's this time.
Which means I *really* have to get a leg up on calling Philacor and asking what happened to the washing machine they took away. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the difficulty in locating replacement parts for a 20-year old model, but it will be nice to be sure, y/y?
Reviewed and sent back two letters that needed a bit of tweaking, thus was able to run off to S&R with a clean conscience. *grin*
Now off to take a shower. It is humid and I feel like the dust of ages is settling over me.
