Hey look at the sun, it's shining down - or maybe not
I literally spent all day today running the washing machine, in the face of on-again, off-again rain. *dies* But the sun came out, and there is a better than even chance of the laundry being ready for putting away tomorrow.
*grin* Picture, if you will, my little Butchi cat sitting in my lap, watching me type this entry. All together now, "AWWWWW..."
So, where were you during the great Twitter DDOS? I never even noticed that LJ was affected, guess I must have been asleep by then.
Lots and lots of stories coming out about political shenanigans (campaigning with banners, distributing "souvenirs") during Pres. Aquino's funeral day. One truly outstanding blooper was the captioning of a photo of the late President's coffin being wheeled out of the Manila Cathedral as being that of the incumbent. Whoops! A noontime variety host made some comments when footage of the cortege broke into his show that got everyone up in arms; now he claims the YouTube clips were taken "out of context", but he said what he said, and people took it the wrong way, obviously.
The electric company people came yesterday and gave us a brand-new digital meter. Installation was a matter of minutes, then they asked me about the appliances in the house that run at any given time, on average, so that they could calibrate the electricity flowing into the house or some such thing. It was the same thing I went through when we re-wired the house four years ago; and since I'm the one who closes down the house and runs the appliances, answering the questions was a snap.
Otherwise, it was quite the ordinary day. Got to talk to the daughter of my dad's late golf mate, and managed to make her laugh a little bit. She's based in the US now, with two teenaged boys. Parents wanted to know any number of things that never occurred to me to ask; I don't know, it just didn't seem right to ask over the phone what the plans of the siblings are for the house their parents lived in, what's going to happen to Tito Solly's nest egg invested in the military savings and loan...stuff like that. Especially since, for the love of the Lord, this is the first time both of us have said two words to each other in three decades or so. I mean...one doesn't *do* that. Do they? Maybe when we have our meet-up, since Lucille wants to see my parents, we can talk about all sorts of things and Dad can interrogate the kids all he wants. *grin*
Tomorrow is grocery and prescriptions and Santi's and Le Coeur day. But that's for another entry. Ciao!
