Wet and Wild

We certainly had all kinds of weather today, mainly variations on a theme of wet and windy. Today's big event was the monthly visit to the cardiologist - just Dad today, Ramon joins him next month (am way chuffed that hubby only needs to go in every other month).

The way it worked out was: I settled Dad and Ramon in the waiting area of Dr. Gatmaitan's office. Then I trotted over to Dr. Batungbacal's office to retrieve Ma's eyeglasses case. Dr. B's office is about a five- to seven-minute walk, give or take the traffic situation. I popped out at the canteen entrance of Makati Med, crossed Amorsolo Street and Pasong Tamo, and then waited for about half-an-hour before Manong Art arrived. We discussed the Cory funeral and its highlights briefly, then I bid everyone goodbye and stepped out...

Into the pouring rain. Or at least it was trying to pour, only the wind was blowing it horizontally? Good thing I knew how to set up the umbrella to provide maximum coverage - and no sooner did I make it over Amorsolo Street than the wind died down and the rain actually fell to the ground in a straight line. Was back in the safety of Makati Med in less time than it takes to tell - and promptly rewarded myself with some Lavazza coffee. *grin* A bit short on the sugar syrup, so the espresso had a nice bite to it.

Got back to my menfolk, went through my Twitter feed until it wouldn't scroll any longer, played games on my phone and wondered to myself why I didn't bring the iBook. (If push comes to shove, would I try to resell the iBook and get a netbook with the proceeds? Or keep it as a spare and save up the money for a netbook? *files thought away for future consideration*) In good time we were called into the doctor's office, to be given the news that all of Dad's test results were fine. Subject to the usual precautions, nothing to worry about. Yay!

Went home, had lunch. Caught up with e-mail, feeds, LiveJournal and enough of Twitter to satisfy me (went 12hrs backward on the web interface). Did not nap, despite feeling sleepy, instead made afternoon tea composed of: sesame-edged bread topped with cream cheese (four slices) and pineapple jam (four slices). This I split with Ma, together with the beef salami from Santi's. (Note to self: with pineapple jam in the house, invest in 200gms of ham on next trip to Santi's.) Have come to the conclusion that salami Milanese is the way to go on the next trip, never mind the price, the taste is worth it.

Had dinner about two hours after this feast. Fed the cats, all of whom are sheltering indoors thanks to the beastly weather. The only one out right now is Mocha-cat, who only deigns to stay indoors when he is sure I am going to bed, wise little creature. *grin*

Twitter appears to be unresponsive at the moment. *shrug* I managed to complete two torrent downloads today, and the rest are coming along - the older a torrent gets, the slower it gets, is my observation. And the ones I have enqueued at the moment have been around a while. But the important thing is that they are still alive, so that's good.

Nothing much left to blog...oh, the writing assignment that I finished on a wing and a prayer has gotten murmurs of approval from the proper parties. This proves that I do tend to worry myself into creative paralysis, so I can now start working on adjusting myself accordingly. *nods*

And that's about the size of it. Will post this up and maybe turn on the TV. Ciao!
