Too hot, too hot lady, gotta run for shelter, gotta run for shade

If I move so much as six inches out of the coverage of the electric fan, I swear I'll melt. Yesterday was confirmed to be the hottest day of the year to date = all of 35 degrees (give or take half a degree) Centigrade. This morning, for the first time in a very long time, I woke up to a pounding headache and promptly made myself an ice bag to soothe the thumping and bumping of the little gray cells.

It's been a busy week. Monday was for resting, after all the running about on Sunday:

* I actually managed a nap, if I remember correctly.

* I updated DestroyTwitter.

* Caught up with the usual online things.

* Transferred photos from my mobile phone to the laptop.

* Uploaded photos to my photoblog. Three sets.

* Got involved in actual conversations with Twitter people.

* Edited a few more DVR files.

* Watched "The Amazing Race" and amazed at how the cheaters from the previous episode break the rules in this episode. Glad they got eliminated!

Tuesday was a little bit busy:

* Our regular visit to Dr. Gatmaitan started with Dad going to the lab to do his blood test.

* Breakfast at Floating Island, as per tradition. Got myself the ham-cheese-mushroom omelet plus hash browns. YUM.

* Cleared Twitter and some e-mail and a little LJ-Inbox on my mobile phone, while waiting for the doctor.

* Ramon got a clean bill of health and prescriptions adjusted lower. This is a very good thing.

* Dad got a clean bill of health as well.

* Remembered to ask doctor's secretary for discount coupons for one of Ramon's medications. 50% off, FTW.

* Heat wave begins, can feel it in the air while walking to the car.

* Drop Dad off at the Veterans Bank at Herrera and de la Rosa; do a wide circle and arrive in time to pick him up as he exits the front door.

* Drop by Santuario San Antonio so Dad can go to Mercury Drug. Ramon and I toddle about inside Rustan's, and pick up Dad so we can go home.

* Promptly forget that I should pick up Ramon's grocery discount booklet at the barangay office on the way home.

* Arrive home to great heat and a good lunch and general brain melt.

* Rest of day passes in a blur.

Wednesday, yesterday, also busy:

* Brought parents to the salon for haircuts.

* While parents in salon, trotted all over the mall. Started with Cibo's for palmieri biscuits.

* National Book Store next, for a newspaper for Ramon.

* Discovered section of Automatic Center devoted to various MP3 and video players, is now an Apple store.

* Made reservations for lunch at Italianni's.

* Picked up parents, went to Italianni's. They have new dishes, but somehow was not in the mood to appreciate it all that much. Parents split a Sicilian Salad, I split a Rosemary Roast Chicken soup bowl with Ma, tried the pot roast and the toasted ravioli. Parents had apple-guava-carrot juice, I had bottomless dalandan.

* Walked very slowly to Mercury Drug with Ma, while Dad wandered off to Glorietta 5. Ma bought a new cane, and when Dad rejoined us, he went to buy toothbrushes.

* Remembered to drop by barangay office on the way home, for Ramon's grocery booklet.

* Arrived home to blazing heat. Rested, made gate pass for maid's day off, caught up with online life.

* Took a long, long shower. You know it's hot when you put a washcloth on your face and then feel the water change temperature.

* Rest of day passes in a blur.

Thursday=today=stay at home day:

* Wake up with the mother and father of all headaches. Make up ice bag and apply to thumping bumping brain cells. Bliss!

* Do laundry, mine and Ma's. Hot weather dries everything up before the sun goes down.

* Maid goes on day off. Returns at a fairly decent hour.

* Made up a drink with the last of the strawberries and Sunquick mandarin orange concentrate, left to chill from early breakfast to lunch time. Chilled juice hits the spot, no lie.

* Drank lots of water and juice, liberally iced. Made iced coffee latte. Visited washroom multiple times as a result, excellent for computer breaks.

* Showered at least three times today. Only one was a full-on event; the other times were just pouring water over myself with a dipper. Best thing ever.

And that about sums up the goings on. All the pussycats are searching for cool places to hang out. Buchi-cat miaows at me as if I could do something to make her feel cooler, poor little girl. Mocha-cat wants to spend the night out, but Ma is paranoid about that ever since he got lost and returned to us after three days. Sakki, Darklette, Grayling and Pica are all about sleeping on the tiles in the laundry area, or the terrace, or on top of the genset in the garage. Buding sleeps on top of our toilet. Trixie has established a Fortress of Solitude behind our bedroom door, where apparently there is a draft.

Now that the house is settled down, I'm going to catch up on some TV. Catch you when I catch you!
