Reading and 'Riting, but no 'Rithmetic

I should have started writing this earlier, but I got distracted by that piece of purple prose that I linked to in the previous entry, and felt a need to read something else as brain bleach.

OK, Bernie Madoff has been remanded to jail - breaking news on CNN. But will the poor unfortunate souls who invested money in Madoff (some of them not even knowing that they did!) get their money back? My bet is it will be a snow day in a hot place before that happens. On the other hand, we have global climate shenanigans, so hope may yet spring eternal.

Finished my first assignment for this year's Kampana. I tied up the global economic situation with Job's trials and Lent as a season for reflection and self-discipline. Hopefully this will pass muster and all will be well. My husband and Ma (admittedly, not the most neutral parties) looked over the piece and gave their thumbs-up on it, which is a good sign.

Did a little hard drive maintenance and transferred stuff around so that I don't accidentally bork something. The two main drives thank me, and the archival drive gained a few gigs in files. :) Someday I may get one of those huge 500GB monsters, and then we'll have real fun!

Made progress in winding yard from that tangled skein with the pretty colorway. Whee!

Finished another vintage Mills&Boon, and added it to Shelfari.

Waded through all the social online stuff. The other day I got a Twitter DM from Richard Quest in response to a tease I sent and couldn't stop grinning. Shut it, I liked it when he was assigned to the business desk of the London bureau...style grew on me. *grin*

I think if I got a chance to visit the Hong Kong bureau, that would be the highlight of any visit to the place. Unless I was gifted with a deep expense account for the duration of my stay, in which case food tripping would be a close second. But I do miss my time as a radio newsreader; my only regret was that I was too green in the ways of business to maximize the chance I was given. Ah, well - can't complain, looking back, I've made use of all I've learned in every job, so it's all good.

Other than that, it was a nice, quiet day. Tomorrow is laundry day, but otherwise, I'm staying home to brainstorm about the writing that the WOMFI project is going to need. May as well hunt for inspiration before crunch time hits, right?

:)
