A long and winding post

This blog entry will be totally scattershot. Also, long, as I will be recapping yesterday's events. So, you are warned, y/y? *grin*

Budi-cat stomped all over me at four in the morning, then when I put a pillow over my head, she sat on it. -.- Honestly, the things we put up with for love of pets...she was hungry, of course. Of course she wanted the kibble bowl up on the shelf where she sleeps, not on the floor, hence the stomping ("Mama, wake UP!").

Buchi-cat is better behaved. She waits till I have engaged my brain cells and then miaows as though I have ignored her for a hundred years, the little princess.

Sakki-cat? Demands to be let in through the bedroom window, demands his share of breakfast, then demands to be let out again. If we are slow on the uptake, he merely settles down on Ramon's shoulder, or my tummy, and purrs away until we move to his bidding.

Trixie-cat sneaks in the moment she hears the rip of the food pouch. Do not ask how she does it. Serendipity has dealt my special cat an interesting card - Dad discovered a lady who is using a cat litter that is different from the usual branded litter sold in the supermarkets; the lady sent over some for us to try, in the hope that Trixie might be induced to use a litter pan. Should this work, Trixie's troubles with Dad stepping on her "accidents" (I swear, the man has an uncanny gift for finding each and every poop!) will end, and litter will be cheaper, as this lady sells it at Php700/sack. Of course, I still have to find out how big a "sack" is, but first things first.

So I told you all about R, my friend, and how he's recovering from his surgery. Forgot to tender thanks for everyone who wished him well; he'll have a lot to adjust to once he's out of hospital, but I have every hope that he will be back in shape before very long.

It occurred to me how out of the loop I was concerning the news about R - considering how we were all so "chummy" when we were in prayer community together? Certainly I was surprised to discover that he was admitted into hospital on February 14 (of all the days in the calendar, really!) when I got the news on February 25. I have turned into a hermit! *grin*

Before visiting R at the hospital, I had to run Scarlett Avanza down to the service center to have her rustproofing renewed. This took about three hours, during which time I restarted the handwarmer knitting project that got sidelined sometime during the Christmas holidays. Frogged everything off the straights, and cast onto the circs, and it's amazing how quickly the work progresses on Addi Turbos! By the time my eyes started protesting, I had an inch and a half of work hanging from the cable. *glee*

After finishing up at Toyota, I popped by the money machine for some extra cash, and picked up Ramon at the little Cash-n-Carry. He'd strolled down there from Toyota, never realizing just how hot the weather is becoming, and it looks like we will be sticking to airconditioned malls for the duration of the summer (read: movies everytime the features change at the theatres).

Then to Petron, where I topped up Scarlett with gas and had the tires checked. Proceeded to have lunch at Pancake House Magallanes and then a little shopping at Rustan's Magallanes - initially for visiting-gift fruits for R, then I expanded it to include some groceries that didn't get picked up during the last regular grocery trip. (And I am reminded that Ramon needs to get a new Senior Discount booklet, he's filled up the current one already.)

After visiting R at the hospital, we stopped by Gaisano Market!Market! Our stated mission was to buy the ginseng tea that Ma asked for; I then remembered, thanks to my little list notebook, that I wanted my own hot water bag. Which I got. But not before getting myself a 30-minute scalp massage at Big Apple Spa (budget massages that are a boon to aching bodies), and early dinner at Mann Hann.

A short go-round in the supermarket, and then we were home for the duration.

I am currently downloading the ISO for Linux Mint. Am thinking of switching away from Ubuntu, or rather, default Ubuntu, since Linux Mint is Ubuntu-based anyhow. I think I may have borked something in this particular installation; or, I could reinstall Ubuntu and update/upgrade. But I'm feeling the need for change. Will let you all know how things go.

ETASwitched from regular Ubuntu to Linux Mint, and I must say, I'm liking the interface. I was able to get the wireless up in seconds, the install took about 20 minutes or so (I just let it run through dinner), added the packages I really, truly, madly use every day of my online life, and all is well. All I need is to add Adobe AIR and DestroyTwitter, and things will be all set until the next distro takes my fancy. *grin* Font rendering is slightly different from Ubuntu, but I don't mind if the fonts aren't exactly the same.

Though considering I haven't had time to check out Twitter lately, I'm not even sure I should go through the trouble of installing Adobe AIR and DT again. It's easy enough to scroll through the web interface as it is. A case of uncluttering the software apps list, I guess.

Hm. That didn't take as long as I thought it would. The day managed to go by pretty fast - early up, morning nap, run Dad's laundry, catch up with online life, write check for water delivery. Tomorrow will be spent setting up for Ramon's blood test on Friday, getting his discount booklet, dropping off recyclables at Forbes Park, and then watching The International before going home. Need to update the expense log, too.

So, time to copy-paste to Ping.fm and Vox. Catch you whenever!

:)
