Supermarkets can be fun!

Did the laundry yesterday morning, and then took off with Ramon after lunch for Cash-n-Carry, which is my preferred supermarket these days. Am seriously thinking of giving up my S&R membership if Php700/year doesn't give me the benefits that I think I should be getting. After all, it's going to be a season of belt-tightening coming up, can't afford to pay for things that I barely use.

All things considered, it's much more fun to shop in SM Makati, Market!Market! and Cash-n-Carry than in PriceSmart. More food and shopping choices, for one. Inventory is pretty good all round, but I don't really recall having felt any real need to shop at S&R in months. SM Makati and Gaisano (Market!Market!) also have loyalty/points programs that - at least in the case of SM - give lots of nice perks, like a lounge, or points to convert to cash when shopping. Always fun for the holiday season. ::smile::

So we landed at Cash-n-Carry shortly before two pm, and I promptly went to the Big Apple Spa for a much-needed massage. Yum! Much refreshed, I took out some money from the upstairs ATM, and then Ramon and I went to have a snack at Jollibee. More yum! Left hubby at Jollibee then betook myself off to Japan Home, where I promptly ran into two friends from our former prayer community. My memory is at a total blank as to their names, but they are a sweet pair with two lovely children - one of whom is a St. Scholastica alumna. We spent a few minutes happily catching up, and then I finished my own shopping while they got the kids home in time to do their homework.

Left Ramon at Jollibee again, and then popped into CD-R King, where I picked up a spanking new laptop stand and a pair of laptop skins. So now the Blue PC and the iBook are color-coordinated, after a fashion, and the laptop stand angles the current machine at just the right angle for ergonomic viewing and typing. I am in geek simple joy heaven, let me tell you.

Rejoined Ramon, then got down to the business of grocery shopping in a supermarket that is renovating in time for the Christmas madness. It says a lot for the place that I managed to wipe out the week's groceries in one go...even if I did pick up corn oil instead of canola oil by mistake. Note to self: try shopping on a weekday morning!

Picked up the ingredients for Ma's traditional fruit salad, of course leaving out the cream and condensed milk because they weren't on the list. ::facepalm:: Also, mismatched the Christmas placemats - which is a good excuse to go back and pick up some more, so that we'll have two sets of eight for the formal dining table. Whee!

It was dark by the time we checked out, and managed to get home before the ice cream melted. ::grin:: Pity we missed the one episode of Deal or No Deal where someone actually managed to beat the banker for a million pesos, but them's the breaks.

Today, was a quiet day. Burned off any number of files from the DVR, mostly the AC360 and crime series files. Have to chop off the ends of the movie files before burning them, but that I can do over time.

The credit card bill came today, and all I can say is: thank the good Lord for money in the bank. I'm so glad I managed to buy some of the major things I wanted before the whole economic situation started spasming, so one way or another, I am set for a good number of years.

Ramon and I are all set to watch Quantum of Solace as soon as it can be managed. Funny how we missed Casino Royale on the big screen, but now I want to see Daniel Craig as Bond in a new adventure.

Tomorrow I'll be offline quite a bit, I think. There are receipts that need sorting and notes that need cleaning up. I'll just have to set my mind on the fact that catching up will have to wait, if I'm to get anything else done in my life!
