the second hand unwinds

Hm. Not at all sure that I have the time for a proper blog entry, but I feel like writing. Guess we'll just have to see where the road takes us, eh?

It's been a busy weekend, no doubt about that. So busy that the clean laundry I picked up from the laundromat is still waiting in its plastic wrapping, waiting to be put away. This will be remedied either by tomorrow afternoon, or Tuesday. My husband is in dire need of shirts!

Heh. I know I've had a busy time of it, when I know that the running about started on Wednesday, but I don't remember what happened on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Oye caramba! ::goes to look at last non-Twitter post:: So...Wednesday was Megamall Day 1, and not finding the Panasonic store, and picking up the laundry.

Thursday was reconfigure the iBook, tweak PC-Xubuntu, stay at home day.

Friday was Megamall Day 2, and get a new battery for the Panasonic day. Was not happy with service personnel's vague directions to Parts Department. Was also not happy with them blaming a brand-new battery just because it didn't come from them, but bought their product anyway just to test their theory. Because the phone worked with a non-service center battery for two years...no problems there. ::shrug:: It's a mystery, but the phone works, so we'll let it rest.

Saturday was trustees' meeting of the Women of Malolos foundation, and Virra Mall day. Found screen protector for the Blue PC, and bought stuff. Despite that, we actually got home while the sun was still up - and I even managed a nap, haha!

Today was blood extraction and Mall of Asia day. Ramon's usual blood tests as part of his monthly checkup, and thankfully he got a lab tech with an expert touch. Had breakfast at Jollibee Fort, admired the various building sprouting up like mushrooms. Refilled his medicines at Mercury Drug. Went home, picked up parents, went to Mall of Asia to catch what was left of the super sale.

Didn't get very far, though. Just Teriyaki Boy for lunch, and the first floor of the SM Department Store, before Ma's hip got too sore and Dad decided he felt tired. Tried not to feel too short-changed about having to go home early, but the nap I had in exchange was worth it. Especially since I felt like I was starting a cold. 500mg of paracetamol every four hours, plus sleep, appears to have averted a worst-case scenario; and the quick shower before settling down to read e-mail and feeds definitely made me feel better.

Tomorrow, Dad will come with us when Ramon goes for his checkup. Dad wants to have Dr. Gatmaitan interpret the findings of his ultrasound. The general game plan is, after the checkup, to drop Dad off at home, then do the groceries at Gaisano Market!Market! Subject to change without prior notice, of course. ::sigh::

In other news...not much. Have been keeping an eye on the financial news, and wondering how Wall Street will sort itself out. The sight of people moving lickety-split out of their former offices is something I've never seen before...what do you do when the rug gets pulled under you like that? (From personal experience: you live in a state of shell-shock for a day or two, then get back to the business of living. You deal, somehow.)

Programmed this week's movies into the DVR - the next time I get to sit in my chair for more than five minutes, I have to burn last week's movies. Also, must get some quality knitting time.

Eh, it's time to go. ::yawn:: Need to buy more cheese tomorrow when I do the groceries.

Teriyaki boy could be the name of a superhero for Food Network. ^_^ He could be the sidekick for Emeril. Bam!

Hee! I should have taken a picture of the restaurant wall...they turned most of the regular dishes into cartoon characters, like "Don Buri" (who looks like a slightly lecherouse oyaji-san)!

:)

Oh that is crazy. I've had that song stuck in my head all day!

Weird!!!

I wiki'd Women of Malolos, and that is just awesome. ^^

Gotta love the gumption of those women. There's an anecdote that says the friars asked why the women didn't want to have the school in the convent, and one of them replied, "No, thank you. We know very well what happens to women who visit the convent at night - and we were raised properly!"

Historical note: some friars were notorious for summoning the young maidens to the convent at night, and afterwards the poor young things were anything but maiden. It was a custom that went on for quite a long time - in my father's hometown, the little girls who played the angels in the Christmas pageant were known to be the offspring of the parish priest.
