Then I Saw Her Face, Now I'm A Believer

I can hardly believe that I'm finally tapping out a blog entry. Not only that, a blog entry using the Ubuntu side of the iBook. It's been quite a while since I used the OSX side, but of course I have to keep it up to date for all those applications that won't make nice with Linux just yet.

So what's been up with me since I last posted? Well...

The most recent event worth noting is that I finally got to set foot in a movie theatre to watch a feature film. The film in question being The X-Files: I Want To Believe.

Of course, being a spoiler hussy, I read various opinions about the quality of the film, but it took one mention of Skinner's presence to ensure that I would make it a point to watch the movie, on the big screen, come hell or high water. (And in the rainy season, that would have been a very real possibility.)

Damn, but Mitch Pileggi still has the body and the voice to make my knees turn into water. (Hubby is very thankful that we saw the movie in the early afternoon, thus ensuring that I had a near-empty theatre to squee and squeal in throughout!) Skinner throws out a line that earns him The Look – you know the one! - from Scully, and I all but died laughing.

Die-hard shipper as I am, of course I had to bounce through every M/S interaction – especially the lighter ones.

As every Phile knows, the initials CC do not stand for “consistent continuity”, so of course there were parts in the movie that made me go “Eh?” However, despite everything, I liked the movie. It brought back the good old days when the show was in season four, and everything was possible.

The Easter egg in the ending credits that most movies seem to have nowadays? There's one in this movie. Go watch it and find out for yourselves what it is. ::ebil grin::

Acted as the family chauffeur the past couple of weeks or so. I don't know what it says about the state of my brains that I hardly remember what's been going on, but there you have it.

Basically, Dad needed to get some papers processed at the Bureau of Immigration as a pre-requisite for more papers to be processed at the AFP Pension office. All of this processing having to do with his pension. Now you would think that the government would like to make life easier for its citizens in their old age, but apparently that is not the case. (Nor will it be the case for a very long time, I'm afraid.)

So from Camp Aguinaldo to the Bureau of Immigration, and all points in-between. Of course, aside from being chauffeur, I also had to provide secretarial services. In the end, I did survive the driving about, and my secretarial services have now evolved into full-fledged filing.
Oh, my sweet Lord, the filing. I have never seen such disarray of important documents, it's no wonder Dad can't find anything when he needs it. ::rolls eyes:: I've spread the whole project through the week, because if I were to finish it in one go, the ensuing migraine would keep me abed for at least two days. Yes, it is that bad.

It's not helping that Dad asks me if I've done sorting the files practically every day since he gave them to me. Then there's the additional wrinkle that he hasn't sorted out what he wants to keep and what he wants to throw. Theoretically, since those are his papers, he should decide what to keep and give those to me for proper filing. Unfortunately, not going to happen that way, so will just have to make do.

Hmm. What else have I done? Been tweaking about the Ubuntu partition of the iBook drive, and am now operating a pure KDE setup. Firefox runs quite nicely, and mirrors the setup on the OSX side. Still have Flash issues, but I hope to get that running eventually. I don't really miss it, though.

Oh...I cast on for a new knitting project. It's going to be a square doily-thing to throw over Ramon's ottoman, and in Roman Stitch. It will be good to get my hand into a new project, especially since it's an easy four-row repeat, so it should be finished in no time.

Rearranged the office space yet again, and bought some more storage bins to pick up the slack. A trip to the Salesian Missions is in my future, since there are already a number of boxes (albeit medium-sized ones) to drop off. The room definitely is easier to navigate now, and stuff that's been all over the floor now has a new home. Not bad.

Guess I'll stop here. Dinner call will be out in a few minutes, and I'm feeling in need of an eye rest for the moment. More news on a hopefully more regular basis (read: while I still remember what the frigging hey-ho happened) soon.

This is probably not the best time for such stressful things to happen. *hugs* It's a shame we can't schedule our aggravations to occur when we can handle them better. But glad you seem to be coping. ^_^

Life is good at the moment, and I am content. However, the back of my throat seems to be suffering some sort of irritation at night. Am not sure if I should take a Sinutab or not. Woke up with it this morning, but it disappeared by midday and all afternoon.

Now it's back. ::wrinkles nose:: Seeing as it's the second night, a Sinutab might not go amiss. At least I'll have an excuse to have a midnight snack so that I don't get hyperacidity into the bargain.

but it took one mention of Skinner's presence

And now, me too.

::huge grin::

I don't suppose you remember that gorgeous scene in the Zero Sum episode? Otherwise known as "The One Where The Fans Find Out If It's Boxers or Briefs"? ::dies:: And the other episode where Krycek and Mulder get squashed up in Skinner's apartment?

Those two episodes left me in a happy state of delirium for days!

Will the ottoman cover be Laker colors too?

No gold, just the purple. Already I've bungled the pattern in four places, but you won't notice them unless I point the mistakes out to you. ::grin:: It's shaping up rather well - I found that it helps for me to knit nice and easy. When I try to go any faster, that's when things start to go haywire.
