00:21 installed ubuntu 8.04 from scratch. works *much* better now. OSX will still be my main system, though.
00:23 have resolved to limit my tweaking to Firefox and stay away from "under the hood" for as long as possible.

18:45 wait, i also went on a DVD-burning binge and now the DVR can breathe again. dayum, TWO MONTHS worth of AC360...whoa.
23:00 downloading torrents from backlog and half-watching AXN. may switch to CNN later.
23:01 was surprised to find out Stephen Frasier and Todd Benjamin both left CNN. I will miss them!
23:05 the first Jurassic Park movie is on Cartoon Network, it's the part where the kids are hiding out from the raptors in the kitchen.
23:13 nothing can beat the last minutes of Jurassic Park for sheer nail-biting, even interrupted by commercials.
