Friday night, all caught up

Caught up with the usual trifecta of e-mail, feeds, and (wonder of wonders) LiveJournal! Considering what the past two days have been, this is a minor miracle of sorts.

I found a new blogging client to play with. Not only that, but it will automatically cross-post to any number of blog/journal hosts. Not only *that*, but the list of supported accounts include the ones I use on a fairly regular basis. This is an extremely good thing.

Thinking about it, I realize that with an expanded audience (since BlogIt operates out of Facebook) some of the folk who haven't yet (if ever) been exposed to my LJ-writing style may be in for a shock or two. ::shrug:: That's life.

So, let's cut to the chase, shall we? ::grin:: Yesterday, took Dad to the Veterans Outpatient Facility in Taguig. He's been having elevated blood pressure readings, so a check-up did not seem amiss at this point. Personally, I think said high BP readings are more self-induced than anything else, since Dad tends to go off the deep end for the smallest of things. ::sigh::

Ramon came along for the ride, and after we dropped Dad off at the clinic, we went joyriding along the expressway. Actually got as far as Alabang, where we were duly impressed by the changes that have taken place since we were there last. The SLEX flyover is under renovation, so we took the old route through the edge of town, into the Filinvest development proper.

On the return trip, we stopped by the Jollibee in the Food Terminal because my tummy was making itself known in no uncertain terms. Would love to explore that area next week, when Dad goes back to Taguig for his follow-up check. After picking up a couple of hamburger meals (plus the free newspaper, which is what brings us back to Jollibee for breakfast), we found ourselves a shade tree to park under near the gate of the clinic, and waited for Dad to call us.

We were home by noon. Face felt all toasted from the heat reflecting off Scarlet Avanza's dashboard. Speaking of which, Scarlet has already racked up 822km, which brings her pretty close to that first 1000km checkup. Once she travels up to Tagaytay, then she'll be good to go. ::smile::

Planned on taking a nap in the afternoon, however, I got sidetracked in reconfiguring the storage cubbyholes in our bedroom. Our Budi-cat walked into the room while all the contents of the shelves were all over the floor (Hurricane Katrina could not have done better!) and her face was "WHUT. DIS R SERIOUS MESS." Once I got everything all sorted out, she and Buchi-cat, who had been watching from her perch on Ramon's computer table, decided that it would do, after all. ::grin::

Then life went on in the usual way.

This morning was banking day. Ma picked up a dividend in one bank, deposited it in another. Lunch was had at Chow King, and we were surprised by the sudden onset of rain - real rain, with real drops, not your piddling misty showers. Once the ground had literally let off steam, the atmosphere around the city turned fresh and clean. A refreshing change after all this summer heat.

The good news - the rainy season may actually come on time. The bad news - 20 typhoons are scheduled to pass through the Philippine area of responsibility. The probable news - not all 20 weather systems may actually make landfall.

Found myself bonding with my pillows as soon as I arrived home. Surfaced from sleep to the sound of rain on the roof, which lulled me back into sleep - all in all, a nice four-hour nap. Considering that I wake up at 5AM each morning to open up the house, four-hour naps are good for the constitution. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. ::nods::

Treated myself to coffee and peanut butter on honey oat bread when I woke up. Great restorative. Then dinner was had, and life went on in the usual way.

So this post renders me current for LJ and Vox. Whee!

:)
