On Vox: One or the other

My nape has started to show signs of prickly heat. ::pout:: Have been generously applying anti-prickly heat powder and keeping the area as dry as possible - which means, keeping my hair in a wee pigtail so as not to encourage sweating. Just got out of the shower and the relief is a wonderful thing.

It was a case of playing catch-up with LJ-land or doing this post, and now that I see the time, I think I'm better off doing the post. Basically, another quiet day, I managed to go through most of the DVR files that have been perishing for my attention, and a burn-off session is definitely on for later in the week.

This afternoon, the parents decided they wanted to go to Mall of Asia and try out the cruise for themselves. Which they did, with yours truly as chauffeur and general factotum, as usual. This time I brought the Aiptek digicam along for the ride - which started out rather funnily, all things considered. There were these two divers who were installing the propeller of the cruise vessel, right? Well, when the boat started to pull out from the pier, we went *backward* and bumped one of the roof lights against the bow of the Coast Guard cutter anchored behind us! ::dies:: Turns out the prop was installed with the blades facing the wrong way, so that every time the boat was sent into forward gear, the reverse happened. Oy! So it would seem that the entire cruise was run in reverse gear for the duration...?

Be that as it may, thing proceeded without incident after that. Then, the sole of one of my favorite pairs of Hush Puppies came half undone; which meant that after an unmemorable dinner at Super Bowl, I toddled the parents off to the Hush Puppies store Ramon and I made so happy yesterday. I made our sales girl happier by getting two pairs of lovely moccasins (maroon and copper brown) at 50% off for each pair - TWO FOR ONE KTHNX YAYEZ! - talk about lightning striking twice. Ma made another sales man happy by getting two pairs of her own, at 10% off each pair. All in all, we are brand loyal, if nothing else!

Sat the parents down in almost the same place I parked Ramon yesterday, and nipped inside to grab some more hair thingumbobs. Then home, just in time to settle the cats for the night. Poor sweetlings, they really do wish they could stay out all night.

Sorted out purchases, joined Ramon to watch part of "The Scarlet Letter" on DVD starring Demi Moore, Gary Oldman, and Robert Duvall. Have heard that the movie is loosely adapted from the book - the operative word being "loosely". Will have to watch it through to see what the ending is, since I heard a lot of discussion about that as well, back when the movie was first released.

Have given Trixie and Buchi their midnight snacks. Budi-luv is still in no mood to come inside for the night, but I'll check on her later.

Ye gods. It's a quarter to midnight already?! Where does the time go?

:)

Hush Puppies rock! It takes me a while to wear them in but once they're tame they last for years and are soooo comfy.

I'm lucky, I never have to wear them in...it's always "love at first fit" for me. ::grin:: But rarely is it "fit my budget love", so whenever these opportunities strike, the whole family swoops down like...hound dawgs.
