On Vox: I already had my eight hours of sleep...
So why am I still feeling sleepy at one in the afternoon? Granted, it is *searing* outside and this is the time of day when most of the population (human and animal) retreats into the shade for a nap. But still...I feel somehow odd and a little guilty for wanting to snatch some shut-eye when I already slept like a logjam last night. In fact, I actually turned in at 9pm - totally forgetting to program the DVR! - and bar having to wake up to go to the bathroom once or twice, I had a good night.
I really should remember to take my vitamins. ::thinks:: I really should remember to do quite a number of things, now that we're on the subject. Especially now, with a new computer in the house that can handle things that will only ever run on a PC. I'm happy with my Tiger OSX, and it would have been 50% cheaper to upgrade the memory on the iBook to 1GB instead of its current 512GB, instead of buying a Vist PC; BUT. All my hackles went up when I asked at the Apple store and they said (a) they'd have to check availability and (b) I'd have to leave my iBook at the shop while they checked availability and swapped the memory sticks out...I don't think so. Surely it can't take more than five minutes to swap out memory sticks? I've been able to wait in the shop when I was PC-based, for memory sticks to be swapped out. Why would I have to leave my only computer (at the time) in the shop overnight?
In any case, the iBook works like a charm, and so there's no need to upgrade it. The Blue is doing beautifully with all the graphics applications that came with my digicams (huge 15" screen makes it a natural for graphics work, which doesn't require being online), and runs the old games besides. Didn't realize how much I missed playing Pharaoh until I started building cities again. ::grin::

Haven't written a full blog post, mainly because there hasn't been much to write about. I did Twitter about doing some spring-cleaning, but that was pretty much the highlight of Saturday - I slept through most of the afternoon once the rooms were arranged to my satisfaction, and I had washed the dust of ages off my skin (which had started to itch, yuck).
Sunday -yesterday!- was fun. Ramon and I caught the 11.15am Manila Bay Cruise out at the SM Mall of Asia reclaimed area. Verdict: Fun, but better taken at night, or even better, during the rainy season after a hard rain. At least, if a brisk breeze is what you are after; certainly, it's what I want when I'm out on the water. I have an affinity for sailing and boats and being on the ocean that seems pretty weird, considering what a city mouse I am. The only condition is, if you're going to put me on a boat, I've got to be on deck, my face to the wind. Keep me enclosed, and you are going to have one unhappy seasick person on your hands.
After our little cruise (during which many pictures were taken), Ramon and I then had lunch at Mann Hann, our favorite resto. It was worth the waiting time, to sink our teeth into lechon macao, jasmine rice, siomai, and hot soup. Even more fun, to have Ramon avail of his 20% discount and see our bill shrink. ::grin::
We headed to the SM Department Store after lunch, with the end in view of getting Ramon a new pair of shoes. One of his old pairs, after years of service, had decided to give up the ghost. On the way to the department store, however, we saw that the Hush Puppies store was on sale (SM was running a mall-wide sale that started April 4th and ends today at midnight) and wouldn't you know it, the first pair of shoes in the sale bin that I held up for Ramon's perusal was (a) 50% off, and (b) met with his approval and (c) was still available in his size! ::happy dancing:: Ramon was hesitating when I urged him to get one more pair in another color, but eventually capitulated because TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE, Y/Y? God knows when the next sale is going to be, and we'll find shoes that he'll like and look good when it happens.
At the counter, I had occasion to slant a freezing glance at two nosy biddies. Overheard as I was paying:
Biddy 1: Look at that, $$ a pair of shoes!
Biddy 2: She bought two pairs....
Biddy 1: At that price, I'd rather go to SM.
At that line, I took a deep breath, slanted a glance at the two biddies, pointedly stared at the boxes sitting next to my own (they had one box each), looked back at the biddies, and shrugged. When Ramon came up to get the bags, I said in my best honeyed English, "There we are, quality on sale. We've set you up for life, darling..."
And promptly kissed him. Heh, those biddies looked like they'd sucked on calamansi...::wicked ebil grin::
After that, I left Ramon to sit outside the entrance to SM, while I nipped inside to pick up, among other things: some more sleep shorts, hair accessories, and a new blusher. We managed to have a quick snack at Lord Stow's before I got tempted into buying anything else!
Buzzed towards Santuario, where we got Ramon's prescriptions refilled. Got a stock of new lancets, the kind that are meant to work with his glucose monitoring kit, a fresh set of electrodes, and Nestle Nutren for diabetics. Thus equipped to face the week, I made a quick stop at Rustan's to pick up some pork chops to broil for dinner, as well as another set of cat treats. Ho-yay!
Got home in time to fix up dinner, sort out the day's purchases, clean up, and promptly fall into bed. Which is where this entry began, so I'll close it here. More news, in a more timely fashion, in the next post.
:)
