So before anything else...
Now that the house is locked up for the night and I seem to be in possession of some quiet time, I'm going to settle down and try to write a proper blog entry.
First off, I trust everyone had lots of love surround them on Valentine's Day. Ramon and I spent it simply enough...we had lunch at Jollibee Glorietta. Turned out there was a promo running: couples were entitled to the reserved "al fresco" seating, and could be serenaded as well. The fresh-faced young men who serenaded us had more spirit than skill; for the life of me, I could not find the pitch they were working at. However, it was nice to give them a chance, and everything turned out fun in the end.
The skirts I was supposed to pick up at Alterations Plus were not ready. Buu. I will get them on Saturday, seeing as how there is supposed to be a huge rally (hello, traffic!) against President Arroyo and various government shenanigans tomorrow. (But wouldn't it be nice to be able to get out and send CNN some i-Reports!)
Popped into Lord Stow's and bought a gift box of a dozen egg tarts for the pharmacists at Mercury Santuario. I figured that since the girls are so much a part of our lives now, they deserved a little treat on Valentine's Day. Then I got ten more egg tarts for the house. ::grin::
The Game Boy Advance SP that I got from the Citibank Rewards Program arrived yesterday, so while I parked Ramon in the Prestige Lounge, off I went with my gift checks to Toy Kingdom. I got a case and two game cartridges for a little over Php 49.00 and Php 1k of gift checks - which is half the amount I redeemed from the rest of my rewards points. ::bounce:: Though I must say, I had to mentally raise my eyebrow at the girl who told me that the games in one cartridge were "just" the classic games, with the old arcade type graphics. Look, sweets, there's a reason why those games are called classic: I was squeeing when I found Burger Time and Karateka, games I grew up with in the early days of personal computers. I have to re-learn Burger Time, wah. The damn ketchup packs keep killing me...
Home again, where Ramon felt kind of listless, so he got himself a little nap, ate some crackers, took his meds - and then returned an impossibly low reading on his blood sugar. 58 mg/dl, which should have had him slurring his speech and me rushing him to the ER for glucose infusions, or whatever. Which is what happened the last time his blood sugar turned up around 65 mg/dl!!
Thing is, he was more perky than I've ever seen him all day...so I made him eat something with about 1/4 cup ice cream for afters. I'm going to take his blood sugar in about five minutes and hopefully the reading will be more rational. If not, retest at Makati Med and see if it's our meter that's gone wonky; but it couldn't possibly, it's only a year old and with a new battery, to boot. ::shrug::
Maid in Ilocos has given no sign of wanting to come back. Temporary maid will be leaving us over the weekend. Pity that, because she likes cats, having four of her own. She's an industrious soul as well - her credentials are far too good for her to remain as househelp; in fact, she's leaving us to start work as a data encoder. She just took on the job with us to earn some pocket money before starting her proper work. But with an attitude like that, I'm sure she'll do very well in her next job, and good luck to her!
Basically, that's it for the day. The meter has returned another reading of 58 mg/dl, but husband is still talking normally; so now I am inclined to think it's the meter more than anything else. Will just have to watch through the night, which is probably the reason I've managed to build up some reserves of strength through a lot of napping!

Best quote in my flist I've seen in a while!
It sounded like you had a pretty good Valentines day. Aside from the abnormally low sugar level reading. However as i've discovered sometimes you have to take the reading twice. I'm not sure which meter you use, but if its accu check, I would really recommend you check it twice if its abnormal.

It's just that after seeing post-meal readings of 150-170 for all these months, to see a reading of 58 (double-checked) is somewhat unnerving.
