Talk about your manic Mondays!
Currently on local TV, those who can stomach the posturings of our local politicos are watching the democratic process in action. I think. As far as I understand it, our Speaker of the House was given the boot by his party. After a very long-winded privilege speech (but isn't that a given, for such things to go on ad nauseam?) he swore he would not make a graceful exit. This was some time in the early evening.
As of this writing, after a motion to declare the speakership vacant, a roll call was made. A quorum presumably having been established, there is now a vote on the motion. Every man Jack among the honorable representatives of the Filipino people is taking this heaven-sent opportunity to have their voices heard as they cast their votes. The current count is: Yes = 95, No = 23, and five abstentions. I repeat, each vote is accompanied by the equivalent of a privilege speech, thereby stretching the process to an excruciating length.
My goddaughter is enjoying the whole show - or at least she appeared to be, judging from the peals of laughter coming through the telephone I as spoke to her mother about the logistics of attending her graduation rites. Good for her, she deserves all the laughter the world can give her. What's not to laugh about anyway, when one representative quoted the Bible in lambasting the erstwhile speaker, and the various turns of phrase from folks who graduated from college, and passed the Bar are amazing.
On the home front, I have a lot to be satisfied about:
* defrosted the small refrigerator
* had KFC Family Bucket meal delivered for lunch
* made sense out of my files
* cooked dinner
* burned off Ramon's movies from the DVR
* edited one long DVR file
* rough-sorted my cash receipts (that still need to be posted, WOE)
* snuck in a nap, which restored my spirits considerably
Updated count: Yes = 108, No = 25, and six abstentions. Speeches = approx 95% of those present.
Off to continue reading LJ-Friends and listening to the political spectacle. I have a feeling that many a mistress and wife has had her plans for tonight ruined by this turn of events. :)

our local politicians sure love mentioning god lately.
JDV went out with a bang, which was expected... although i stayed for a LITTLE of his talk, i really couldn't stick around for the whole show. had better things to do with what was left of my night.
Re: our local politicians sure love mentioning god lately.
Since, during Jesus' forty days of temptation, the devil quoted from the Old Testament prophecies and the Psalms to get Jesus to go over to the dark side. I think Jesus was the one who said it; I must do a run through of the Gospels, which seems an awfully apt thing to do with Lent coming on.
