I think I can manage decent sentences now
A mildly busy day for me. With my laundry at the laundromat, there wasn't much to do except run interception plays in the kitchen for every meal preparation. The maid labors under the impression that the family will perish if we don't have new food every meal, and it's been a challenge teaching her not to cook anything new if tons of leftovers are clamoring to be consumed. Fortunately, we did manage to clear the ref of old food, and had nice lovely pork chops for dinner at last.
On the shock of Heath Ledger's death: there are no words, really. So young, and so gifted! A daughter who will only know her daddy through films and the press clippings, poor sweetie.
All things considered, there's been quite the celebrity obit list and January not even over yet:
** Brad Renfro
** Sir Edmund Hillary
** Suzanne Pleshette
** Bobby Fischer
Such a list gives one an "end of the era" feeling...

Have burned off hubby's movies from the DVR, and am in the process of ridding the machine of a few more files - they will be fun to carry around with the portable DVD player during Ramon's next doctor's appointment.
No naps today, but thankfully am not exhausted. I drove Dad and the maid to the employment agency so that she could pick up her postal ID. Why she left it behind, I'm sure I do not know. In any event, it would seem that we may end up with two maids once again - however, since they are both from the North, it is not likely that they will socialize with the local Mafia -er!- househelp network, who are all from the South (the Visayas, in particular). Am not sure but that those who are wise in the ways of the city take it upon themselves to educate the newbies in all that makes them irresponsible.
Well, hope springs eternal in this household, that's for sure. :)

Good heavens, there's CNN Hong Kong's Andrew Stevens reporting from outdoors. He looks like he's standing at the Promenade behind the Renaissance Hotel, with that lovely view of Victoria Harbor -- only he's not in line with the Convention Center. This is the second night they've done the news this way; is this going to be a regular thing while the weather holds good? Hm! (And the light/sound show has just started. Waaah. I want to be there. On my own, for a weekend, at least.)
OK, now it's Jim Boulden in London reporting from some bridge over the Thames, with a view of that building nicknamed The Gherkin. This seems to be a new system the powers that be are trying out. Stephanie Elam is indoors, reporting from the trading floor of the NYSE, though.

In about 15 minutes I have to run off and take Ramon's blood glucose readings. Have queued up some torrents on the FrostWire, and life is good.

It does feel like the end of era, a very sad end.

It is just too sad about Heath. With the medico-legal report estimated to take about ten days or so, his family will have to endure endless speculation from the press about why he died. Makes me wonder why the networks couldn't all shift to covering the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kenya and Gaza vs. Israel till the findings come out.
