A Blessed New Year to everyone!
So. There has been the eating of ham, spaghetti and fruit salad. CNN year-end reports played counterpoint to the sound of firecrackers and fireworks; the moon has turned red from all the gunpowder floating in the air, yo.
Toasts were drunk, and now the house has settled down for what remains of the hours of darkness. I'm still up because I just came out from a very necessary shower and I prefer to let my hair air-dry. I'm looking at a room in desperate need of organization, but actual cleaning is verboten on the first day of the year - per traditional superstition. Something about sweeping the luck out the door. ::shrug:: I think it was invented by tired housewives who, after all the New Year's revels, couldn't bear the thought of picking up broom and dustrag barely three hours after everyone had gone to bed. Which is, to my mind, an excellent reason for letting dust gather in the corners, as anything I've ever heard.
The morning of New Year's Eve was spent at Glorietta and SM Makati for last-minute purchases. Green tea and ginseng tea. Nestle cream. Cat food (there was a special, yayz!). The new issue of the TV Guide ::bounce::. A new desk lamp that has brought new life to my working area. There were impulse buys as well, like the Harlequin Regency romance from BookSale; the DVD-Rs from CD-R King, the new pairs of knitting needles.
Arrived home in time to help Ma set up the fruit salad for chilling. ::beams:: Then I set up spaghetti sauce in the slow cooker and managed to punch in some time with the computer before leaving for Mass with Ramon. It was standing room in the church, which surprised me, since I'd thought we'd find a place to sit after giving ourselves 30 minutes lead time. We ended up standing for the whole Mass, and thankfully Ramon managed to get through it without too much discomfort.
Came home to find that Ma had opened up the ham. ::grin:: Delicious stuff, well worth the price. We had a light dinner, and then at some point I managed to have a major bonding session with my pillows until about 10.45PM. The light and sound show (aka the firing of pyrotechnics) started at around 11.15PM, and I got some videos of those.
New Year's dinner was simple and filling. The cats came in to seek refuge from the noise; Trixie was outside when the barrage reached its peak and was in a right panic trying to orient herself to my voice calling from the window she normally uses to get inside. Poor baby. Once she figured things out, though, she cried at me for a cuddle, which she got. After that, she settled down quite happily in her new sleeping corner. ::pets kitty::
Do I have resolutions? Not really. I've broken more than I can count. I do intend to try and see at least one or two pending projects through to completion before December 2008, other than that, just to try and make the most of every day, one day at a time.
Here's to a good year ahead of us all!

He looked so fine in his relaxed and laughing persona - as in, totally huggable. As opposed to his "touch me not" aura when he's in anchorman mode.
