This circular was just delivered to the house by the Village Association. If you are sensitive to bad things happening to small creatures, you may want to skip this entry.
WHY? Defenseless animals even more defenseless than usual because they were in a fracking CAGE...I want to throw things, I do. Preferably at that monster. With three outside cats, and the inside cats let out at regular intervals, life is going to be SO. VERY. EXCITING. until this perp is caught. 14 dead out of 29. 11 wounded.
Ramon's first words as he handed me the circular: "There's a psycho in the village."
The whole thing boggles my mind. I know that cage - we went looking for one of cats there once. It's in a little service area that doesn't have a door - because until today, no one ever imagined anyone in this village would ever do such a thing to defenseless animals. I don't understand why it took until the next morning for the poor creatures to be discovered? Cats aren't quiet when they are hurt, and the security office is just on the other side...surely someone must have heard SOMETHING?
::weeps:: Poor little things! I hope that perp gets caught. Wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be some spoiled brat.

Massacre of Cats - An Appeal for Action
Dear Residents:
At around midnight last Sunday, December 16th, an unidentified individual(s) with an air gun loaded with lead pellets, mercilessly shot at 29 cats and kittens in a holding cage at the back of the [Village] gym. These cats were up for adoption, others for neutering, were well-cared for and fed, and were not disturbing anybody. They were under the care of the C.A.R.A. (Compassion and Responsibility for Animals).
After the carnage, 3 died from head wounds, 11 seriously hurt and put to sleep by our veterinarian-consultants, and 11 wounded. Only 4 survived unhurt. The violent and wanton manner by which these helpless animals were shot may be seen from the blood spattered on the floor and walls of the holding area. Photos of the condition of the cats when discovered the following morning by our staff is attached.
While the incident is currently under investigation and our security officers are evaluating leads to identify the killer of these cats, I appeal to each of you to help provide us with information leading to the identification of the owner and user of the air gun. He may be one in our midst. And if he can kill helpless cats at the back our the gym, near our park, he may start shooting at humans later with a gun other than that which uses compressed air and pellets. Any information which may lead to the identification of the cat-killer(s) will be treated confidentially. Please call Village Manager [name and number].
