Oh, the twelve days before Christmas!

Actually, I'm quite satisfied with the day. The gardener came and went without incident. Folded laundry was put away. I now know for certain that I have enough dusters, shorts, lounging pants and tops to last all of 2008, if not longer. I have six dresses and two new skirts, more blouses and polo shirts than I care to count. Conclusion: clothing will not form a large part of the budget for 2008. This is a good thing.

Also in the accomplishment list for the day:
- cleaned and reorganized the stuff under the daybed
- printed out a copy of the Water Therapy article for Ma
- read through Christmas promotional brochures
- burned off DVR files to disc
- thoroughly enjoyed my AC360 fix this morning
- cooked chicken-beef barley broth, which was a hit with hubby (have given up seeking affirmation from paternal unit)
- finished Chicken Soup for the Woman's Soul

That's about it. Am particularly proud of the broth. I made it by throwing in the carcass of last night's roast chicken into the slow-cooker after breakfast this morning, adding sufficient water to cover it, and leaving it alone till lunchtime. That's when I added the barley and beef, and enough water to make the cooker about two-thirds full. At 4.00PM I added potatoes and onions and garlic and left everything alone again till 6.00PM. Yum!

I noted to husband that here we are at another Christmas, and we are no closer to getting an "official studio portrait" than when I first conceived of the idea five years ago. ::sigh:: Hubby says the time will come, perhaps just not during the holidays. He finds it more important to have Sakki-cat, our eldest, brought to the vet for a general check-up, and I agree. Now to find a hole in next week's schedules - Monday and Thursday are out because of Dad's priority usage of the non-color-coded cars.

All in all, a peaceful and blessed day. Am trying to ignore the way paternal unit acts as if he's the one spending for Ramon's medical expenses, when in reality he already made it clear he doesn't have the money to spare. It can get irritating if I focus on it, so I have, on Ma's advice, adopted an attitude of blithe deafness to the rumbling and grumbling. It works - I just need a little more practice. ::grin::

Back to the reading of LJ-Friends. I'm halfway through now, and then later, perhaps, more writing. I managed to crank out half a drabble last night before my brains gave way. I'll either continue or maybe the muses will give me a new bunny to play with. Hurrah!
