Civic duties
Yesterday Ramon and I went to vote in the barangay elections. A peaceful enough affair in our village, compared to the undercurrents of tension that are present for national elections. Discovered that if the ballot minder can be persuaded to put the barest minimum of indelible ink on your fingertip (on the skin, and not the nail), applying an alcohol-laden tissue like a pressure bandage for several seconds, helps immensely in quickly fading the ink away.
Having done our civic duty, I swept Ramon away to Starbucks Forbes, where he tried the Green Tea Latte and I had an iced cafe mocha. Ordered a corned beef pandesal and an ensaymada to go with the beverages, and spent some quiet time reading the papers.
Dropped into the Rustan's supermarket (well, more of a mini-mart, really) for groceries and some cuts of meat. Also, brought home a roast pata that we turned into paksiw na pata, which Ma sort of liked.
Most of the day that I can recall had to do with file maintenance. Digital files, that is. The paper-based files are still waiting patiently for me - and breeding. Moved files from little Weiss Schokolade into the Iomega. Labeled DVDs. Burned off recordings from the DVR and labeled those.
Put away the laundry, too. ::is pleased:: Ordered three books from Barnes and Noble, which please God should arrive before the Christmas rush.

Today was Qi Gong day, and it was good to work all the kinks out of my muscles. Got home in time to watch John King more than ably fill the anchor position for AC360 - Cooper being in flooded, rainy Congo to work on a 60 Minutes segment.
Converted three pieces of leftover chicken into a soup that got the general vote of confidence. ::bouncepreen::
Brought Ma to the opthalmologist, who is happy with her progress. He tweaked the dosage of her eye drops once again, and we're going back in a week. He tells me that we're lucky that the eye infection didn't leave any scars on Ma's cornea, the way it sometimes turns out with elderly patients. God is good.
Then we stopped by WalterMart because Dad needed some stuff photocopied. We had afternoon tea in Le Coeur de France, after which there was shopping. We have completed the list of ingredients for Ma's fruit salad and macaroni salad. No one ever gets tired of Ma's fruit salad - it's the one New Year's Eve leftover that turns into New Year Week dessert. Yum.
Came home in heavy rain that lasted, literally, till we reached the garage. Changed out of travel clothes, bonded with hubby, had dinner. Typed up and e-mailed the article for the WOMFI newsletter that has been percolating for ages. Caught up with my usual addictions: LJ_Friends, mail and feeds.
My cycle appears to be getting into gear. Hopefully by tomorrow, I will be proved correct, by the lack of the headache that now plagues me. Not to mention being able to be more perky than I've been of late.
So...end of another month. It's been mercifully calm and peaceful. Here's hoping that when November comes in, it will be more of the same, if not better. Ciao!

The only election tomfoolery I'd be engaged in after voting would be to run off to my favorite bookstore (http://guides.clickthecity.com/metro/?p=1915) with hubby, buy a long-wanted book, and then have dinner out with him. Best way to go!
