I guess it's true what they say
...that the best moments you remember are the ones where you don't have a camera. I've just finished giggling over the teaser for the CNN World Report 20th anniversary (dear Lord, where does the time go?) and poor Ralitsa Vassileva, so polished now - was up in all her glory with the eighties hair of her early years in CNN! Guillermo Arduino was a gentleman about the whole thing, emphasizing "those lovely blue eyes that captured everyone's attention"...ah, yes, the man knows how to make a woman smile after having her early footage telecast globally. ::grin::
It's been a postal day, and I mean that in the best sense possible. ::grin:: Today, all my Amazon orders arrived: It Seemed Important At The Time by Gloria Vanderbilt; a complete collection of Lord Peter Wimsey short stories; and the 50th anniversary DVD set of Larry King Live. Which works like a charm on my region-free DVD player. ::bounce::
In addition, the freebie from Time for renewing subscription had to be claimed from the post office - it's a projection clock, where you can press a button and have the time glow on the ceiling. Cool!
Laundry is done, and the weather cooperated - lots of fine sunshine to dry out the clothes properly. Switched from liquid to powdered detergent, let's see how the clothes do with that.
Brought Ma for her follow-up consult at the opthalmologist, which she passed with flying colors. While there, we met Dr. Batungbacal's sister-in-law, the former barangay captain of Magallanes Village; and there was a nice chat with her while waiting for Ma to finish her UV treatment. She has a new eyedrop for her cornea, to clear up the last of the cloudiness, and all is well.
Dropped off - FINALLY - the envelope for the November Masses at the Salesian Missions office. This is the yearly tradition of having Masses said for the dearly departed...I have to make up a similar envelope for Santuario very soon, since the deadline is on October 31st.
The termite people were in for their monthly inspection. The maintenance crew sent someone round to collect the payment for their latest round of minor repairs, and also to fix the bug lamp Dad was fussing about.
Picked up Ma's new eyedrop at Mercury Glorietta - which still reeks of blast fumes and burnt plastic smells. Then to the photocopy service at Bridges before merienda/cena (trans: tea dinner) at Magic Wok at the Food Court. It's sad to see the place so empty - but who can blame the people for staying away, between the fear of getting caught in another incident and the current noxious trace smells, who would want to go? I can tell that the holiday shopping season is not going to be as good as it might otherwise have been.
I still can't wrap my mind around the explosive gases theory. Though of course, all things are possible. Not always probable, as per my high school Philo professor, but possible.
SM is still a shopper's delight - their entire fourth floor was engineered to make me desirous of refitting my bed and bath wtih all sorts of shiny new things. As if a new DVR was not enough! ::dies:: In any case, I would dearly love to have more color in our bedroom instead of this deathly dull antique wood finish; not that I could argue with that, since Ma financed the acquisition of the furniture that was passed on to us. But someday, I promise, there will be decongestion and color, in that order.
Re California fires: If the folks who lost their homes ever find out who the evil wicked perps are? Alpha Centauri cannot ever be far enough for the creeps. Just saying.
On the health front, I have recovered fully from the tummy conniptions, but continue to treat my innards with caution. While the parents were securing Ma's eyedrop solution and other medicines, I bought myself a tried-and-tested tonic called tiki-tiki, which is basically iron (ferrous sulphate), vitamins (in this case, B1), and it's 10% ALCOHOL CONTENT. One drinks a shot of the stuff once a day, or every other day. Because of course, too much iron at a time, and you get constipation. ::nods::
Get this - it is recommended for anemia and **women recovering from childbirth**. I used to take the stuff when I was working, and it does help when you're feeling run down. Whether this is because of the iron or the alcohol, I'm sure I don't know. ::huge grin:: In any case, I gave Ramon a taste, and his face puckered up like he'd eaten ten kalamansi at a time, poor dear man.
I have batches of phonecam spam to work into icons and such, but I have to give something up to do that. Most likely it will be commenting on LJ, if not reading it altogether for a day or two. Tomorrow I'll be posting up receipts and maybe cleaning out the webmail accounts of spam and such. There are six more video clips in the DVR that need to be edited before burning, too; and a couple of bills to phone pay. From experience, I know that these things are done in less time than it takes to tell, but what I need is a lack of distraction - which doesn't happen when I'm online. ::wry grin::
Apple released Leopard OS today. Am not sure what this means for me as yet. My pretty Weiss Schokolade is still humming along on all its cylinders...but of course, one cannot help but wish for a shiny new toy to play with. That's what ads and early-adopters are for, yo. ::chuckle:: Though I'm sure Ramon would love to get his hands on this little baby if I ever got a MacBook to play with.
Sure now, and 'tis a miracle, you still here and reading! ::offers tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolate cake:: More news tomorrow, perhaps. Keep safe, all!

For the tech-impaired...
Re: For the tech-impaired...
My phones have always had a slot for an SDRAM or a mini-SDRAM card, so what I do is, I set the phone to store any pictures it takes into that card - then take the card out of the phone and stick it into a card reader attached to the PC. Much easier to transfer pics, and you don't need to install additional software unless you also want to sync other data like contact info, as I mentioned earlier.
Hope this helps. BTW, send my regards to Llama-san, if you would? It looks like he's been awfully busy of late (no new LJ entries).

llama news
Time also flies by when you realize his Eldest chibi turns 21 next week.
Re: llama news
As for the Eldest Chibi - goodness, she's the same age as my goddaughter now? Yup, the time does fly!
