Can sit still now, plz?
Oh glory, what a busy two days I have had! Or at least, it feels that way, given the headache that followed me around...the theme of those two days should be, Medical Conditions That Weren't.
Tuesday, October 16
Qi Gong class, as normal. Bring Ma to visit opthalmologist, not as normal. Somehow something got into her left eye during the sudden spring-cleaning of the laundry area, and it turned a shade of red that would have done The Bride of Dracula proud. Poor Ma, trying not to panic - and fortunately, the opthalmologist was calm and soothing and prescribed antibiotic medicines, which I have been helping to apply for the duration.
Dad, as usual, was in the mood to lecture Ma on the care and maintenance of her eyes. Fortunately for us all, Ma, being a little bit deaf, let everything go over her head and thereby preserved her calm and serenity, her nerves having been reassured by the opthalmologist.
Went to Mercury Drug Glorietta to pick up her eye drops and ointment and antibiotic tablets. Then, we had a snack in Jollibee ::makes moue:: which wasn't exactly where I would have chosen to eat, but whatever.
Then Ma had a yearning to visit Marks&Spencer, where we looked at clothes that appeared far better on the mannequins than on real people (read, my pear-shaped bod). Though there was this one dress that was really pretty and would have made me look like a decent person - BUT - the price, my dears! For what that dress cost I could have gotten half a wardrobe makeover at SM Department Store.
Bossini was our last stop at the mall, and I took advantage of the "buy 4, take 1 free" offer on their polo shirts. As a result, my hubby has two nice shirts in time for Christmas and New Year, and I have three. ::bounce::
Wednesday, October 17
An early start to get Ramon to Makati Med for his fasting blood sugar test. Breakfast at the canteen, which wasn't really inspiring, but filling all the same. Dropped off various item at the Salesian Missions, and was met by Fr. Larry Tan, Lord love us! (He's the head of the Missions office.) Got home with time to spare to catch breath and look forward to joining the live thread for AC360.
Was all set to enjoy AC360 when Jocelyn, one of the maids, comes up to me saying her throat feels bad and she coughed up fresh blood. @__@ So off we went to the DVA clinic, sent off by Dad's growling and rumbling and what all. Gah. Arrived at the clinic to find out the doctor wasn't in, and chose to wait rather than go back home. Anyway, the DVR was running, so nothing to worry about - missed the live thread, though. Ramon decided to walk from the house to the Clubhouse to bring me a book to alleviate the waiting time - greater love hath no spouse than to rescue missis from dissolving into PMS-blues.
Doctor arrived, looked down Jocelyn's throat, said she could see what was causing the problem, referred us to an EENT whose clinic was just ten minutes away, along EDSA. Dad calls me via the cell phone as we're about to exit the gate. Suffice to say that his language is not the kind one repeats on a public post, lest the sensibilities of innocents be shocked. ::grin::
Clinic is found with alacrity, and a parking space secured as well. The tricycle drivers, thank heavens, were willing to let the Revo take up some of their space. Jocelyn and I walk up three flights of stairs into an empty clinic (well, it was getting on for lunch, after all) and the doctora (trans: lady doctor) quickly settles Jocelyn into an examining chair and does things to her throat.
Final verdict: A bone scratched Jocelyn's throat, and the scratches were the source of the blood. The bone itself, though, had already been swallowed, so no choking hazard to worry about. Antibiotics and painkillers were prescribed, and huge sighs of relief were heaved. Paid the consult fee (second for the day), tipped the nice security guard 20 pesos for getting us the parking space, asked directions and headed back to Forbes Park for medicines and groceries.
Ye gods, the headache when I got back! "Misery" is too mild a word for it. Luckily, I was able to catch a few hours of sleep before jumping out of bed to pick up the Innova from the service center. Dad decided to come at the last minute, not that he was much help except to pay for the deductible. Still, we did get the Innova home, and now we are a two-car garage again.
Programmed the DVR for all of Ramon's movies. Will have to cross-check the replay times of The Daily Show for some dates, as some movies stretch to 11pm. Caught up with LJ_Friends and mail, and some newsfeeds, then bed.
So despite all the incomings, life was as usual. Updates on today's events in a separate post.
