Recovering...again.
Fresh out of the shower, and after having gone through e-mail and newsfeeds, I've got CNN International in the background, and wondering how to blog about the day. Started early, waking up with what felt like the hangover headache from hell. Ignored that, and fired up the computer to start working on the quitclaim agreement for our accident victim. Luckily I'd found a template on the web - a Philippine template specifically created for vehicular accidents, yayz! So it was just a matter of filling in the blanks and letting Dad read the text.
Qi Gong class was next, and it settled me down quite nicely. Ramon is keeping up quite nicely with everyone else, which is good. We got to talk to our barangay captain, and one of the councilors, which was also nice. The class has been invited to a qi gong event on October 27th, at the World Trade Center, and Ramon and I have pencilled this into our activity calendar.
Picked up the incident report from Village Security, which agrees with Bernie's version of events and not in any way with the events set down in Dad's affidavit. ::sighs::
Back home, for a light breakfast (darn, forgot to substitute cereal for rice again) and to set up all the documents needed for the insurance processing. Ramon had a chance to drive the Revo while I drove the Innova into the shop; and despite the crowd, I managed to get the car into the service area and look up our agent Carmina. Papers were exchanged, pictures of the damage to the car taken, and I have a release date of Thursday, but a pick-up date of Friday or Saturday. I have to give Harold, the service consultant, a call first.
Glorietta next. Mercury Drug to see if they had the ankle support that Bernie needed. No luck. Down the hall to Bridges, where the photocopy service is nowhere near as crowded as that in National Bookstore, and a whole lot closer, too. Photocopied the quitclaim.
Attempted to have lunch in Sugarhouse, but Ramon didn't see anything he wanted on the menu, and so I very reluctantly moved us over to Magic Wok at the food court. Ramon could sense I was disappointed, because my head was aching something fierce and I did so want to treat myself in a *quiet* place for lunch (I was actually near tears from the discomfort, wah); he patted my shoulder while we rode up the escalator. Managed to hold everything together and recovered quite nicely over the lunch. Not quite what I wanted, but it was good food, and reasonably priced.
Next stop was the BDO office to get the quitclaim signed and hopefully completed so that I could get the thing notarized tomorrow. Rain greeted us when we got to the door of the mall - so we made a side trip to the Revo to get an umbrella and leave all the unnecessary stuff behind. We met up with Imelda (Bernie's wife) and Bernie, got the documents signed, turned over the compensation check, and now the ball is in their court because they now need to provide me with their Community Tax Certificate details so that I can finalize the notarization.
Once that was settled (and a huge load off my shoulders), it was off to CD-R King, where I bought DVD-Rs and a pudding case instead of the disc markers that I was supposed to get. *facepalm* I'll just have to take care of that tomorrow, then, on the way home from the notary public. Had to skip the usual meandering through computer lane at Park Square One, which was mildly disappointing, but not as much as lunch. Maybe tomorrow, and maybe I'll have time to finally schedule a facial, which I've been planning since forever.
Came home, changed out of my travel clothes, and promptly confined myself to bed, much to the chagrin of the cats. (Oh, dear. I have to visit PriceSmart tomorrow and get kitty litter and Ma's vitamin E.) Slept from 2.00pm till about 5.00pm, and was promptly interrogated by Dad over dinner. Answered all questions without getting too hostile witness about it, and soothed my ruffled feelings with a good helping of Arce Coffee Crumble ice cream. (Note to my foreign friends: You have to sink your teeth into this ice cream, it's based on water buffalo milk, and yummy!)
The maintenance crew was in when Ramon and I got back, apparently there is painting to be done before the holidays. Ah, sweet heaven, please don't tell me that this will be another year where all my enthusiasm to put up decorations will be drained away by the circumstances of life? Hopefully not - surely by the time we get the Innova back, everything will have settled themselves into the normal routine, and by November, I can have the maids bring down the lights and the other decorations. I'll think about it on Halloween. ::smile::
It will be so good to stay home for a few days. As in, no sudden running of errands or chauffeuring of people hither and yon. I haven't been able to write all that much, and surely that has contributed to the general irritation that I've been feeling. I haven't even had time to play with my new digital toy yet! If it can replace my Kodak still camera, then that's going up on eBay together with the Kodak share printer. Or maybe not the printer. Definitely the camera.
Oh, Lord! It's Frank Sesno on my screen! How long has it *been* since I last saw him? When I was just a newbie to CNN, about two decades ago, maybe? ::grin:: CNN has now become the channel that my TV is nailed to...it's provided quite a number of moments that are all the more fun for being unscripted. Like the time CNN Center had Ralitsa Vassileva moderating a discussion between a man and a woman that was *this* close to descending into a catfight, and Ralitsa had to be careful lest she seem to be ganging up against the guy (who looked like some surfer dude to me). The topic was something about how stats show that more US women are earning better salaries and how does this affect the US male psyche or some such thing.
Then halfway through the discussion-turning-debate, CNN Hong Kong comes in, with Kristie Lu Stout and Hugh Rimington giving each other that well-bred "WTF is going on look?" that anchors quickly develop for their on-air appearances. Kristie wondered aloud if the attitude expressed by the American guy was valid elsewhere, and Hugh grins and comes up with this gem:
"I'd be perfectly happy to be a kept man...so all you rich ladies, I'm right here."
Which set Kristie into giggles while I started going, "You *can't* be single, Rimington!" Ah, good times.
Oh, my goodness, are you still here? ::passes around coffee crunch cake, coffee, tea, and shortbread cookies::
Am going to try and make a dent in the LJ_Friends page while waiting up for The Daily Show. Ciao!
