I think I've found my digital toy for this quarter

With all the upgrading from tape to disc, it occurs to me now that I would like to have a DVD recorder. Mainly to indulge my Anderson Cooper fangirl love - because, y'know, it would be so VERY nice to be able to catch missed episodes. Not to mention having the ability to replay episodes on TV instead of the computer would be all sorts of good stuff. Then there's the issue of screen caps...and the beat goes on, la-di-da-di-da...

::see LJ_Friends head for them thar hills::

I think I've done a pretty good job, till now, of concealing just how wanting something can eat at me. You think?

Anyway, I still need to do more research before spending money on such a thing. Hubby won't let me buy him the recliner that would cost $$$ less than my digital toy, but which would do him heaps of good. Since buying it against his express wishes would only worsen his health, he has given me carte blanche to indulge myself. He knows very well that I'm going to comparison-shop up the wazoo and drive all the salespeople crazy before I commit, anyway - nice when a man trusts you like that.

With luck, I can manage to be a happy owner by the time Planet in Peril comes around on October 24th. ::grin::

I did manage to catch Narco State:The Poppy Jihad at last, and I must say that it was well done. It might just show up in a nominations list next year. I'm more certain that Planet in Peril will definitely be nominated somewhere - it has all the earmarks of the kind of epics awards bodies adore. Who knows, maybe even an Oscar? Now that would be all kinds of cool, to see Anderson, Sanjay and Jeff Corwin up on stage and Jon Stewart to comment after they leave it. What, a girl can dream, right? Right?

Meh. The Oscars are for movies, I know. So basically the Emmys will be as good as it gets.

I start a new pair of contact lenses tomorrow, and then I have to either get my eyes checked, or buy a new box with the old prescription. I'll go for getting my eyes checked. I'm fairly sure the grade has gone up, with all the computer work that I've been doing. For sure, I have to keep my eyes as relaxed as possible the night before, and all morning until it's time to go to the optical shop. Not going to go to my parents' opthalmologist yet - I'll save that for when my eyes need more than corrective lenses.

On the domestic front - Ramon and I and the maids went to the 10.30 Mass at Santuario, then off to Glorietta and SM Makati for fun and shopping. Jollibee lunch, and then Ramon left us women at the lingerie section while he scouted around the ground floor.

The maids had fun. I had fun - got some more of those cheap but comfortable pajama bottoms, another duster, and two t-shirts from the Plus Size section. With this new haircut, I'm turning positively girly - I really should post up pics some time.

Got myself a new cardigan. Had afternoon tea with Ramon at Tsoko Nut while the maids left the bags with us for a bit and roamed at will throughout the department store. Got some necessary supplies in the supermarket, then headed on home with the rain coming down.

Ordered dinner in from Pizza Hut because there was absolutely no time to defrost and cook something decent. The family enjoyed, which was a good thing.

I love a rainy night. (Love the song of the same title, too. Dan Fogelberg, I think? Definitely some country western dude.) Looks like I'm going to sleep well!
