Six o'clock and all's well

A very quiet day today. Ran the bed linens through the laundry, and it will be great to sleep on brand-new sheets tonight!

Have had CNN in the background for the most part, and the news out of Myanmar seems to be getting worse by the hour. Latest headline has Gordon Brown now calling for a Security Council meeting over the matter, whoa.

There's a new wrinkle in the Madeleine McCann case, apparently there is a photo of someone that *might* be the poor wee child. We can only hope and pray that this lead turns out to be a good one, for the child's sake most of all.

Halo 3 is apparently headline-worthy because of the big bucks it's supposed to generate for Microsoft. As someone who will never be a gamer - although I do love the shiny, believe me! - all I'm going to say is, never underestimate the power of the true believers. ::nods:: It should be quite interesting to see how much money the game *does* make, at that.

Dad has been tracking the debacle that is the ZTE/NBN case, and the Senate hearings concerning same. We have heard him expressing in very crisp terms, his opinions of Abalos and Neri; myself, I cannot for the love of everything good, figure out why our government officials find it necessary to sabotage perfectly good public projects with their shenanigans. Let's shoot ourselves in the foot, why don't we? ::sigh::

In any case, the hearings have been going on since this morning, presumably with a break for lunch and hopefully a break for dinner, otherwise we're going to have a very cranky lot on our hands come the morning, certainly!

I caught the part where Miriam Defensor-Santiago was cross-examining Abalos, and sang the refrain from "Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley" at that point.

Transferred some drabbles from my archive disk into the laptop. I might be able to rework or continue some of them, which would be nice. As it is, I've got an idea or two percolating in my head, and I should get them down - digital or paper, doesn't matter much how.

Remembered to warm-up the genset, and made out the check for the bottled water. Caught up on e-mails, feeds, LJ_Friends.

Caught up with AC360, and oh, sweet baby James, what *did* they *do* to the program format? Apparently there was feedback that the commercials were too long, so the solution implemented was to cut the commercial block into smaller pieces and spread them all over the program. So we were getting breaks like every seven minutes or so...OYE!

If this keeps up tomorrow, I may just forgo listening to the reports and count the commercial breaks. @__@ But I take hope in the remembrance that Christiane Amanpour's interview with Ahmedinajad will be aired in its entirety on AC360; surely the "suits" wouldn't dare pepper that with commercial breaks. ::crosses fingers::

My. Anjali Rao looks rather old in this new TalkAsia promo. It's either the way she's colored her hair, or the glasses plus the hair.

Ok. Time to chase those plot bunnies down before the good stuff gets eaten. See you all in the next entry!

Halo 3 would be the only reason I'd buy an Xbox 360.
(But I suck at gaming. I still haven't finished the first 2 Halo games. [livejournal.com profile] e_sama is far better at Halo than I am.
