Back in the swing of things

Taking a break from catching up on the LJ_Friends, which is not the way to finish catching up, but whatever. I've got CNN playing in the background, and am altogether quite contented with the way the day has turned out.

I've re-arranged things in the computer corner, moving the iBook out from the computer table and having it sit in the middle of my desk, which makes for a more comfortable workstation environment than formerly. The Coby-TV now sits in the space formerly occupied by the iBook, and is easier to watch and places less strain on the cables and such. I can actually feel the better flow, so it's all good.

As I think I mentioned earlier, the parents had cataract removal surgery. This meant we had to be at the hospital by 6.00AM; in turn that meant we had to leave the house by at least 5.30AM; which meant having to get up at 5.00AM. Hoyay! Except for Dad fussing about like a hen laying eggs, everything went smoothly. While the parents waited for the OR to get fixed up, I filled up forms and then bustled Ramon down to the lab for his blood extraction. This time around he got one of the male nurses, who has the expert touch - Ramon hardly felt the needle jab into him.

Then once the parents went in for their procedures, Ramon and I went back down to the hospital cafeteria and got ourselves some delicious sandwiches and fried eggs for breakfast. Then back to the OR waiting area, where I managed to get a nap before fetching Ma out of the waiting room so she could have breakfast at Floating Island. We ordered Campbell asparagus soup and a club sandwich, which provided just enough sustenance for four people.

Dropped by the PhilHealth on our way back to the car, and then, lo and behold, we actually made it back to the house in time for today's AC360! Except...there was no cable signal. WOE! Just as I was about to resign myself to not seeing AC, the signal came back - blurry at first, but when I reset the TV, everything came up roses, and there was my man Cooper looking pretty good. Maybe not too happy at having to cover OJ for the third day in a row, but over the TheraFlu stage, I think.

There was a lot of twitting of Larry King as "the epicenter" of everything OJ on CNN at the moment. In fact, AC himself twitted having to focus so much on the story. Really, the coverage is all kinds of enough - there he is on CNN Headline News, World News Today, Business International (!!), Larry King, Prime News (Erica Hill's beat), and AC360. Overkill, much? But as I said, CNN can't afford to let other networks scoop them on a story that is both surreal and garnering ratings - they'd never hear the end of it. As it is, the program isn't hearing the end of it, but at least the commenters aren't skewering Gabe over the coverage.

Ordered lunch from KFC, and then took a nap to catch up on sleep. I made coffee at 4.00PM and promptly forgot about it till about 5.00PM, and am drinking it now, which guarantees I'll be up for a very long time tonight. Which is pretty good, considering the stuff I want to catch up on.

So that's about it for the life news of the day. ::grin:: Am resigned to not watching AC360 tomorrow, since we have to be at the Makati Med parking lot early in order to get a space, and Dr. Gatmaitan arrives around 10.00AM or so. Here's hoping things go well at the check-up.
