Oh, shoot. Forgot to post, here's a backdated entry.
But since it's still early enough in the new day for it not to matter, just the bare bones of things:* Major lamentation on the AC360 mailing list and LJ community about the quality of the show, the first since our man came back safe and sound from Iraq. Most of the complaints were because of the subject matter - most folks seemed resigned to more coverage of the McCann case, but when that was pre-empted to deal with the OJ Simpson headlines, oh, the gnashing of teeth! My take: a whole hour of OJ was overkill. When Anderson read off the question, "whatever happened to the Bronco", I wanted to crawl through the TV and pinch him. Hopefully, though, now that they've done it in such depth as to make our man want to take a shower after the show (yummy thought), that will be the end of that. The McCann coverage will be on later.I want to see some Anderson/Erica Hill banter again. I miss her, she's so cheerful.* Brought parents to visit Tito Tom on his birthday. This is the breakfast club member who had the art exhibit. Managed to lose my way a little bit, and we found the house to the accompaniment of Dad swearing at every turn I made. ::rolls eyes:: Dropped off parents, had a blissfully quiet drive to Santuario where I picked up my altered pants; refilled Ramon's prescriptions; deposited two checks; bought drinks for our stash; bought sausages at Santi's; bought croissants and Coeur de France.* Picked up parents, but was persuaded to fill my empty tummy with some very delicious chicken pastel and other good foods by Tita Pel before leaving. Of course I forgot to give Tito Tom my e-mail, the better to keep the environment green. ::headdesk::* Returned to Santuario so Dad could purchase the eyedrops he and Ma need before their cataract operation. Then home, and a general unloading of stuff; arranging of same, and cuddling up with hubby, who is feeling much better than formerly. So far, so good.* Have gotten into the swing of using my InsaneJournal as a "live blog" for all the CNN viewing I do all of a sudden. I hate seeing journal space lying around, but sometimes I draw a blank trying to figure out what I want to do with all the empty space. (Speaking of live bloggery: Michael Holmes' pinstripes are making me cringe. I hope he never wears that suit again.)* For love of Nic Robertson, I watched Live in Baghdad. The actor they picked to play Nic (then a CNN engineer), had this fresh-faced country boy look that sent me into giggles, but not as much as the person who played Peter Arnett. ::chuckle:: The movie reminded me of John Holliman, one of the original faces of CNN, together with Bernard Shaw, Richard Roth, et al.I did a Google search on the other crew members mentioned in the film, and was happy to find that they're still working with CNN - Mark Biello, the cameraman, did yeoman service rescuing people in the aftermath of Katrina instead of filming rescues. A decision which CNN backed 100%, good for them. Especially since Mark apparently got some sort of infection after that. Owie.* Andrew Stevens and Hugh Rimington filed reports from the field - Andrew is in Phuket, and Hugh's was from Sumatra. I can tell that Andrew is still in Phuket, but I don't know if Hugh's was taped before-hand. But if the men are out, the ladies are doing very well at the anchor desk in CNN Hong Kong.* Watched Kathy Griffin's The D-List, which I slept through when it was aired on Jack TV. She was on Larry King this morning, but CNN International cut away from the afternoon replay to cover breaking news on the McCann case - to wit, the acquisition of a new official spokesperson by the family. ::sigh:: I missed Business Traveller completely - maybe they'll show it in October after being sidelined so much by breaking news?So that about covers it. It's time to get offline and close up for some shut-eye.^__^
