Watching the Emmys - 3

* WHOA! So that's what Seacrest was talking about on Larry King - he's dressed up in one of the costumes from The Tudors, and has just introduced Wayne Brady, who can hardly keep his face straight..."Looking like a medieval pimp."

* Rain Wilson (The Office) and Kanye West in a "Don't Forget The Lyrics" send-up! The songs are weighted in Kanye's favor, you think? Nope, Kanye "flubs" it and Rain gets to improv a little rap. Whooo!

* Now comes the *real* presentation for Outstanding Reality Competition. How can Project Runway get so many screams? OMGYES, THE AMAZING RACE!! Is that the Philiminator? It looks like a cast of thousands gets up on stage, hey-all it looks like half the theatre left their seats.

* IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME FOR COLBERT AND STEWART!! ::bounces:: "If entertainers stop publicly congratulating each other, the Earth wins!" Got to love this dig at the way environmental protection movement sometimes seems to lack a sense of humor.

* Outstanding Actor in Comedy: Ricky Gervais wins for Extras. Ricky is not present, so Steve Carell gets up on stage, and there is mosh-pitting with Stewart and Colbert. ::grin::

* Hugh Laurie looks mighty fine, he does. The natural Brit accent helps muchly, too. Outstanding Actress in Drama is Sally Field, and she's a real veteran at squishing the thank-yous into the time allotted. "If the mothers ruled the world, there would be no goddamned wars in the first place." Yup, I totally agree!

* Aaagh! It's the Memoriam part. ::sniffle:: Dear Lord, I almost forgot about "Cade's County" (Glenn Ford), and "Owen Marshall"...how I loved those shows! I cannot believe how many of them are gone: Beverly Sills and Luciano Pavarotti for opera alone is enough reason to get all nostalgic.

* William Shatner and Debra Messing presenting Outstanding Actress in Comedy. No, I wouldn't carry Shatner's love child either, thanks much! Winner is: America Ferrera! Winner first time out, not bad! She looks good in that gown. "The reward is to be able to go to work tomorrow and see all of your faces..."

* Jimmy Smits and Kate Walsh. Have not seen Smits in an age and a half, and he looks FINE. Outstanding Actor in Drama: James Spader of Boston Legal walks away with it. "I feel like I just stole a pile of money from the Mob, and they're all sitting there."

(Oh heck, the maid needs cooking oil...)
