Watching the Emmys - 2

* SALLY FIELD in the house? Wow. With McDreamy, yet. And Helen Mirren wins for Lead Actress in a Miniseries/Movie - Prime Suspect (Masterpiece Theatre).

* Who's this ranting person? He's vaguely familiar. Oh, it's Lewis Black! I like the topic he's working,...dealing with in-show advertising that interrupts the flow of the show, and covers up the credits. His indictment of the news crawl is rocking!

* Yo, mama, it's the Cold Case tandem! Yummy. I like that red satin dress.

* Outstanding Director for Miniseries...the Emmy goes to Philip Martin for Prime Suspect, who has nothing prepared and proceeds to work all the allowable time, haha.

* Outstanding Writing for Miniseries...Frank Deasy, which is making Prime Suspect a collector of Emmys. After claiming Helen Mirren and Philip Martin said all there is to say, proceeds to add his two bits. ::grin::

* I wish the News and Information Emmys were broadcast or get mentioned somewhere as well. Guess I'll have to check the website on the 25th to see if my man Cooper/CNN picked up anything - there's six nominations for the network in there.

* Considering that Seacrest is the host, I'm seeing precious little of him on the screen. But then there's quite a bit of the show left.

* Speak of the angel, he's out and introducing Masi Oka! Awww, the laddie is all sorts of cute. ::pinches his cheeks:: And, he's got a Mac on the table, hahahaha...new category, Interactive Television. Winners are Al Gore et al for their TV network, Current, that seems like CNN's I-Report expanded for the internets.

* ::bounce:: Brad Garrett! "Bury My Head Between Your Knees" ::spew:: Joely Fisher gives back as good as she gets - this is one of the best moments of the show! "You can't get on craigslist...unless it's Senator Craig's list."

* Tony Bennett wins for himself this time. They had a good competitive crop - Ellen in the Academy Awards, The Colbert Show, Letterman. I'll go for Bennett, if only because I love his music.

* Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series, presented by Teri Hatcher and I have no idea who the guy is. @__@ Winners are: Stanley Tucci and Elaine Stritch - what they don't pick up their trophies anymore, just the thank-you speeches? Oh. Elaine Stritch is love, all sorts of love...

* Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series. Won by: Richard Shephard for Ugly Betty (Pilot)! Gotta love the screams that erupted at that announcement.

* Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Ye gods, was that an iPhone? Oooh, they're showing the clips on different smartphones! Cool! Greg Daniels wins for The Office, which makes any number of people happy - Conan is applauding with great enthusiasm, at least.

What is the appeal of "The Office"?

I'm not really sure that I know? Unless there's a whole lot of people who can relate to the dysfunctional office environment portrayed. Apparently the US version does pretty well by the original UK version.

All I know is that when that guy's name was announced, there was a whole lot of cheering going on.
