Remembering and forgetting

I've got Kevin Bacon as guest on Letterman on the TV, and I must say that he's quick with the humor. Not bad.

Busy morning today. The maintenance crew sent a couple of guys over so that (a) our water tanks could be checked to see if they needed cleaning, and (b) to get our plastic roofing cleaned up. They brought over the official receipt for the check we wrote out to cover their last invoice - and I forgot to give them the old magazines to give to their office manager. Ah, well. When they submit the invoice for this job, I'll have some more magazines for her, so it will work out all right.

Brought the laundry to the laundromat. Not as much as I thought there would be, even with some denim items and several pairs of slacks. Hm.

Brought Pica-kitten to the vet, where she was given a check-up. In addition she was dewormed, her eyes washed, her ears cleaned, and her butt-end as well. She was a very good kitten through it all, and her expression when the vet stuck the thermometer into her was a classic "WTF?? MAMA! WHY!"

In-between each new procedure/indignity, she would skittle over from the veterinary aide to where I was standing at the other side of the examining table, and huddle on top of my bag. Awwww. The doctor recommended a two-week observation period, in which she is to have special food, antibiotics, and vitamins. She's about five months old, and very thin - though she eats and drinks well enough.

She was as good as gold riding in the car. Not a single anxious miaow - more of "You still there, mama?" kind of sound, and once she heard my voice, she'd settle back to drowsing. I hope she starts responding soon to the vitamins and such...I have to buy a new bottle of antibiotic because someone meddled with the two spare bottles in the house. (Hunting through the cabinets, I found expired medicines as well, which were dispatched to the rubbish bin as fast as possible.)

Ramon's appointment at the barangay dentist went well. He now has sparkling teeth and part of his tooth is pastede on, yay. (The Tagalog term is "pasta", which refers to fillings, generally - but in this case, the paste job was to patch up the side of his tooth. So...yes. Moving right along...!)

Hubby now has to go back to the dentist to get a mould made for his one-tooth denture. This will take place on Friday, which will also be a busy day - but that's for another entry.

Made a short stop at the supermarket to pick up oyster sauce and ice cream, before heading home with Ramon and Pica for a late lunch. Pica was worn out from her visit to the vet, and after eating, flopped down for a well-earned nap.

I sorted my stuff out, looked at everything, and eventually decided to take a nap. But not before setting up the slow cooker with the ingredients for an improvised stew - about 1/4 kilo of pork cubes, two Italian garlic sausages, two potatoes, four cloves of garlic, and a minced onion; together with a chicken rosemary marinade mix and a dash of ReaLemon.

Woke up at around 4pm, and made a very half-hearted effort to get things done - but all I could manage was to lay the groundwork for getting things done tomorrow.

Ho-yay, but the DFA wants an "affidavit of explanation" from Mama before they'll release her passport. Waugh. Will have to write up the draft tomorrow, and then look for a notary public before getting the document over to the travel agency on Friday. ::sigh::

At the moment my brains have come to a standstill. Guess it's time to close this entry and try to catch up on the LJ_Friends.
