Not So Cold August Rain
(If anyone around here figures out where the inspiration for the subject line came from...::cheeky grin::...have a tall cold drink, on me. ::chuckle::)Despite the damp and the wet, Ramon and I got to the hospital in relative comfort, with nary a car on the road. From there, it was just a matter of getting a number ticket at the lab, since I'd filled out the form for the blood extraction right after Dr. Gatmaitan gave us the lab order last month. The kindly nurse who took care of him during his ICU confinements, was also the nurse who extracted his blood last month as well as today - which she did efficiently and with a minimal amount of pain. I trotted down to the money machine while Ramon was in the extraction room, and extracted some pocket money for the rest of the day.Once the blood was safely in Nurse Nette's custody, it was time for breakfast at Floating Island, the hospital restaurant. It was also the place where Ryrie-chan and I had agreed to meet, she having to pick up various doctors' certifications for herself and my goddaughter. In other words, "excuse slips" to explain to people why they had to be confined in such a dramatic fashion a few days back. We had breakfast together, and there was much of the catching up and the bonding. After breakfast, there was a short parting of the ways while Ryrie visited one of her other doctors, and Ramon and I popped over Dad's glasses at Dr. Batungbacal's clinic. Then we went over to Glorietta, since underground parking seemed like such a sensible idea in this rain-laden weather. A short stopover at the pay lounge, and then a short peep at the sale items in Marks and Spencer ended up with me acquiring a new pair of pants. Dress pants - and the knowledge that I have shrunk from a size 20 to a size 18! To be sure, size 18 means that the waist is still a little loose, but the hips fit nicely, and the crotch doesn't cut into my lady bits (thus ruining the line of the haberdashery). A size 16 would fit the waist, pinch the hips, and draw unnecessary attention to the entire area below the waist.Merciful God - per CNN Weather, that super typhoon is now has 222kph winds! (Hm. What's that little window doing at the lower right corner of the screen? Tracking the Dow Jones? Is something spooky going on at the Stock Exchange?) Met up again with Ryrie and goddaughter at Italianni's. Ramon and I got there first, which allowed us to order food we could share via nibbling. Piccolo calamari with a side of mashed potato, and chicken marsala risotto. Mmm...good stuff, and terribly filling. ::grin:: More bonding over the meal, and then all of us went our separate ways.Deposited fresh funds into the bank, then I went on a hunt for that book of Anderson Cooper entitled "Dispatches from the Edge". Yes, I am a shameless fangirl, so shut it. ::chuckles:: After a fruitless hunt through National and Powerbooks, Bibliarch came through for me, and it was there that I also inaugurated my Express Cash card. ::bounce:: "Dispatches..." is one of my few hardbound books, and I gave it a little skim before getting caught up in other things. For once, I completed my Friday lineup of favorite shows: Ellen, Clean House, and ER season 12. Haven't been able to do that in a while! Now I've got CNN on while a fresh deluge of rain pours over the house. To think it was peaceful and calm these past six hours, and now the buckets are back on. Dad says we'll be all right by tomorrow, and I really, really hope so. I have to wear white for the installation ceremony of Fr. Cielo as Rector of St. Anthony Shrine!
