Tuesday's child is full of grace

Today was indeed a day full of grace...even if I missed dropping by the bank to deposit a check and the coins saved up from my glass piggy bank (a pig-shaped bottle that originally contained wild honey!). Nor did I take time out to buy pork and beef for the freezer; but as there is a fair stock of chicken and fish, it wasn't that urgent a matter.

As I think I mentioned in my previous post, I needed to dash down to the travel agency in order to get new passport renewal forms for Ma's passport. The trip down was quite uneventful, and while I played car-minder, Ramon was the one who popped into the agency to pick up the envelope that was waiting for us.

Headed back to Makati, and parked in the Ascott underground parking so as to have easy access to the Food Court. Treated myself to some time in the visitors' lounge, where I primped and powdered a wee bit before rejoining Ramon and going off to Mercury Drug to refill his prescriptions.

Lunch was the next order of the day, and we had a nice one at the Food Court; rice toppings from Magic Wok. For the price, we got good-sized servings equally balanced between viand and rice - we shall be returning there often, that's for sure.

After lunch, I had to visit LBC in order to correct a spelling error on the transmittal slip for Freda's money transfer to her family. This enabled her husband to collect the money she sent, much to the relief of all. Book Sale was nearby, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a Betty Neels title I didn't already have in my collection. So needless to say, I bought it; Ramon picked up the novel "Wise Guy", which was the basis for the movie "Goodfellas".

My back had been aching something fierce these past two weeks, so I went for a full-body massage at David's. Ooh, but it felt really good to have all the kinks worked out! That left me free to look for some of the items on the grocery list, which I was able to find down in Ace Hardware. My office space now has an insect-killer lamp which also acts as a night light in here. The kitchen has got a new "magic mop", a can of Pledge, and I bought this spray-on carpet freshener that should do quite nicely for the living room. I also got some Blu-Tack for some pictures that Ma wants to hang up.

Then Ramon and I had merienda-cena in Cafe Ilustrado, where I can wholeheartedly recommend the pancit palabok and fresh lumpiang ubod. Yummy stuff! Then we went next door to try out the SM Advantage Prestige lounge, and I must say that it is a nice place for folks to just sit down and decompress after roaming around the department store. I left Ramon there with the bulk of the packages (there's a package counter!) while I went down to the supermarket to finish up the grocery list: tinned mackarel, tinned tuna, and ground black pepper.

Enjoyed a welcome glass of ice water when I returned to Ramon, and welcomed the chance to put up my feet for a little while before having to set out towards the car. Was able to pay at the express counter at the bottom of the escalator, and returned home without incident and feeling quite well done by!

Was not intending to eat any more after such a heavy afternoon tea, but...there was fried chicken on the table. I had two quarter legs. ::sheepish grin:: And ice cream.

Got a call from Ryrie-chan telling me to track the news because of a Nokia battery recall. The evening news sure made us wait for that story, leaving it almost till the end of the program, dear Lord. Long story short, it seems that the BL-5C Matsushita battery that my N70 (and other models in the N-series, as well) uses, may have the odd product that blows up while being charged. Proof of disaster was a case that was reported to the TV news a month or two ago, in which the battery exploded, thus burning the SIM, the bedsheets, and a pillow. Urgh.

Nokia says it will replace the battery for free...but with a delightful lack of information, despite listening for details, I have no idea where to go in order to have this battery exchanged. On the other hand, it isn't a matter of any urgency to me, as I don't use the N70 as much as I used to. Am pretty sure that Ryrie-chan will find out all the details before too long, as she has a number of batteries to exchange!

That's today's wrap-up. Am going to be busy tomorrow as well, shuttling parents hither and yon, but mostly to their eye doctor. Have just remembered that I have to pull together a white outfit for the installation of Fr. Cielo on the 18th, and as of now, I'm pretty sure I have nothing respectable to wear!

You had those for merienda? XD You guys are diehard! I desperately miss my mom's palitaw. That was my all-time favorite merienda fare.
