Recap - August 11, 2007

Mang Miguel arrived, as scheduled, and kicked off another early start to a busy day.  First stop was the Petron station, to put gas in the Revo.  Had to wait a few moments while they reset the pump and the cashier's computer, and it was so funny to see their relief when I said I'd be willing to wait three minutes for them to come back online.  I mean, come ON.  Three minutes!  How rushed is this world getting?

Our itinerary first took us to LBC at Park Square II, to send off money for Freda to her son in the province.  We then finished in time to have lunch at Luk Yuen Glorietta - a place we haven't visited for quite a while now.  I like their new dessert, called Jelly Cubes - three flavors of Jello cubes over ice and milk, topped by a scoop of ice cream (your choice of vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry).

Then we popped into the Book Sale, where Ramon got himself a new book.  He asked me if I found anything, and I said I found too much - which was why I wasn't going to buy anything, what with all the books I still have unread at home!  A short stop at the washrooms, after which we took a slow walk to the opposite end of Glorietta, to SM Department Store, where I picked up a few extra panties and scored on some 2-for-1 sleeping shorts.  I think I've found my home brand for underwear - Sorella.  The only brand I've seen to date with undies for XL/XXL sizes, which instantly biases me in their favor.

Since I was thinking of updating my Barbie doll's wardrobe, I went over to Toy Kingdom.  Since I'm not familiar with the layout of that part of the store, I ended up in front of the gaming section, with the Nintendo stuff practically occupying one wall.  Was looking at all the pretty shiny stuff, and wondering if it would be worth it to get a Game Boy Advance just for the chance to play Final Fantasy on it.  ::grins::  Well...I could never hope to master the real Final Fantasy game, but for something I could stuff in my bag, I might be tempted.  I really am - the pricing is going down somewhat, now that new Nintendo models are coming out.  We'll see, especially since I would like to buy a digital video camera from CD-R King at some point.

Then I finally got into the Barbie section, and...I'm not sure what I was expecting in the way of clothes, but the selections didn't seem to offer much.  Or maybe I just didn't have time to go digging through the other corners of the store.  But the main section didn't seem to have that much to offer.  Still, it's worth taking a second, more leisurely look, when I don't need to worry about time.  And when it's earlier in the day.

I said as much to Ramon when we sat down to have a drink at Chow King.  I also told him about the awful, awful male salesperson who got between me and my communion with the various items up for sale in the gaming section.  Aaarrgh!  Helpful is one thing, but when I am considering a purchase and you try to steer me in *another* direction, uhhhh...no.  You've just killed my desire to buy, you have.  The young lady in the Nintendo section did it right - she asked if I was shopping for a game or a unit, and then asked if I was buying for myself or someone else.  Then she pointed out the "specials", and waited for my reaction before going on.  Not bad.

Last stop was the supermarket, to get a new mop and yet more kitchen supplies!  I have a feeling that I should take charge of compiling the grocery listing, because these two don't seem to have much by way of initiative.  They do work very well, once you tell them what they're supposed to do, so it's nothing to get all up in arms about, unlike some folks around here.  ::grin::

I am amazed.  I'm actually finding myself with more and more time on my hands.  This is good!
