Started out a bit shaky today, but all's well again

It's been an eventful week, it has, and there's a lot of recaps to be done, which I'll spread out between tonight and tomorrow.  So where do I start?

Well, if I start counting from midnight today, that means I start at the point where Ramon and I came home from the ER.  Nothing serious - for once, praise be to the Lord! - it was more of a precautionary visit at 10.30PM the previous night because Ramon was complaining about feeling like he was starting a migraine, and when I checked his back, it was soaking wet with perspiration.

Now the last time we had the migraine-heavy perspiration duo, Bad Things Happened.  So I chivvied hubby into dressing up and we took a trip down to the ER to make sure that I was just fussing over nothing.  I mean, it's easier to know that you were wrong, than to wonder if you were wrong, if you see what I mean?  In any case, we saw many familiar faces on the ER night shift, and all of them were happy to see us shifted into the Primary Care section instead of Emergency Care.

Ramon was given some basic neurological tests, which he passed with flying colors, and it was the general agreement that the wicked weather we have been having was the cause of the headache.  He was also given a sort of FAQ sheet, where one of the scariest symptoms was "...if your headache lasts for 24 hours..."  @__@  Then we were sent home, and happy were the cats to see us, that's for sure.

The good news is that the evening rains are getting a little harder and last a little longer than the occasional showers we were getting at the top of the month.  This means that the humidity is slowly decreasing.  The bad news is that the moisture appears to be tripping various electrical grids - and this morning at 3.00, it was our turn to plunge into darkness.

Ramon was the first to notice, since he sleeps more lightly than I do.  He came with me and held the flashlight while I got the genset started and switched over from Meralco.  Then it was back to bed for about an hour and a half, when the (new - story to follow) maid got up and I had to open the kitchen door.  Went out to check and saw the streetlights back on, therefore switched back to Meralco power and shut the generator.  Stayed up until about 5.30PM, and then back to bed.

Was understandably not happy to be turfed out of bed to help in the kitchen with something that didn't need helping...lay down and wasn't sure whether to continue dozing or just stay awake and hope my body caught up with the wakefulness.  Was also in the mood to be pouty at Dad's total cluelessness about my state of mind - he was too busy being gleeful about getting a PhilHealth refund for his and Ma's cataract operations.  Also, he had to mention that it was too bad that neither I or Ramon weren't covered by PhilHealth...

Anyway, most everything went in one ear and out the other.  The PMS hormones kicked in after breakfast, when I lay down and promptly burst into tears, much to the consternation of beloved hubby when he came back to the room after having his own breakfast.  Oh, I was in a mood to feel very taken for granted, let me tell you.  Anyhow, hubby is good at making soothing noises, and basically just held me while I let loose with the waterworks.  ::snuggles hubby::

After having recovered, it was time to take the parents to their appointment with Dr. Batungbacal.  You can bet I drove as carefully it could be managed, given the fragile state of my being.  The doctor is pleased with the way the parental eyes are recovering - and finally, praise God! - Ma consented to have her ears checked.  We've got a referral to a place called SounTec (?) where Ma will get an audiogram as soon as I can set up an appointment on Monday.  It would be a wonderful thing if Ma's hearing could be assisted, so that she can understand the world better.

Dropped Dad off at Makati Med so he could check out the PhilHealth thing.  Instead of trying to look for a parking space, I took Ma off on a drive through Ayala Avenue, with the intent of either dropping her home or pausing at Santuario.  As it happened, Dad called just as we were reaching the Banyan gate of the village, so we were just in time to turn into Paraiso Street and get out via Pasay Road.  Neat!

Home again - where I promptly changed out of my clothes and lay down to sleep.  This worried our little Buchi-cat, who miaowed plaintively in a bid to get me to wake up.  When that didn't work, she decided to sit on my tummy till I deigned to rise.  ::grin::  Seems she thinks I will do quite nicely for a pillow.

Lunch was had at around one in the afternoon, and after that, I spent the rest of the time till dinner putting the finishing touches to Ramon's new laptop.  Yup, he has one, and the story to that will also follow in a recap.  (What, you don't think this entry is long enough already?)  The Windows XP is completely updated, he has Avast as his anti-virus should he decide to go online; he's got OpenOffice for his word processing and such; he's got Photoshop 7.0 and two versions of PictureIt! for the graphics that he loves to play with.  I turned it over to him with a great deal of satisfaction, and the newly-christened "Dark Chocolate" (to match the iBook which is named "White Chocolate") should last him a long while, as he knows how to take care of equipment.

While the XP was installing its 81 system updates, I managed to reconcile my most recent bank statement.  The various cash receipts have been sorted out, and are all ready for posting.  So far, so good.  Mail and feeds have been dealt with, and I'm as up to date with LJ_Friends as I can be, considering how many days I've skipped reading through the page.

Now, all I need is a good shower, and I can settle down to enjoying the most recent iteration of the LJ_Friends while I download a new batch of torrents.
