So there I was, all ready to post
When a random thunderstorm decided to make a dramatic entrance. ::sighs dramatically:: Just one little flash of lightning (not even accompanied by a thunderclap, poor wee thing), and the internets, she go down where de water be cold, mon.
There was only one event of note, come to think about it. I drove the parents to the opthalmologist for their post-op check-up and payment of the hospital bill. Other than that, it was stay at home and putter about. Dad was slightly taken aback by the bill, but when it was pointed out that it included things like the quality of the hospital (Makati Med), the skill of the surgeon (acknowledged as a top man in his field, with a Fifth Avenue, NYC clinic, even), the quality of the lenses, and so on, he backpedalled a bit on the "oh, it's so expensive" refrain.

In the light of the rising suspense levels concerning HP and the Deathly Hallows, here are links to two communities that might add a little laughter to your day. So far, spoiler-free, but caveat reader and all that...but really,
loldemorts and
lolpotters should keep everyone fairly calm until the Potterdammerung begins, yes?
It has been bruited about that it would be A Very Wise Thing for spoiler virgins to turn off e-mail notifications for your LJ for people who friend/defriend you, lest you meet people with usernames like [Bad username or site: hermionedracoforevermorepage430 @ livejournal.com], and have all the magic let out of your reading pleasure.
Never have I been happier to be a spoiler hussy - as I refuse to buy a copy of the book until the price comes down to three digits (that's in Philippine Peso terms), I have no choice but to enjoy the way everyone will be tiptoeing around each other for at least a week after the book comes out. At least my real-time friends can vent their extreme emotions around me; as for my dear LJ_Friends...I guess walking on eggshells around each other for a decent interval is part of the fun?
In non-HP news, this link to an upcoming GI Joe movie reports that someone out in movieland honestly believed that it would be possible to make a GI Joe movie without the presence of Cobra in the film.
That must have been some crack running about in the studio, is what I'm thinking. Even I know that Cobra was the villain of the piece. A GI Joe movie without Cobra would be, as some said, "like Star Wars without the Empire"..."Transformers without Megatron"..."Cinderella without the wicked stepmother"...and there was much of the righteous indignation. Fortunately, the studio has seen the light, and the movie appears to be getting back on track.
While the internet was down, I got a chance to play with iMovie, and by the grace of God I think I have finally hit the right combination to create proper movies out of the Switzerland 2006 pictures. Whee, only ten months after the fact, and we actually make progress, say what?
The entries for the 1984 travel logs are also coming along quite nicely, and with luck I should have a batch of posts on the Wordpress blog before too long. ::is pleased::
Remembered to make the check for the water delivery.
Also remembered to run the genset - and of course, forgot to set the timer, so that the genset ran overtime. Go me! ::grin::
Have figured out how to use iSync for the Palm and the N70, so that now they share the same (cleaned up) address book. iCal is back in use again as well. Will still leave the Palm Desktop in the hard drive anyway, as a backup in case iSync goes wonky on me.
Was reviewing the specs for the Palm Treo 680 - and then realized upon double-checking the list of Smart 3G handsets that it's not one of the supported phones. Or if it is, they don't have a config template that you can download, like the one for the Nokia N70. So it's likely that if I do get a new phone, it's going to be a Nokia E61i - as long as it can sync with a Mac, it's good to go. I checked on some forums, and they say it can be done, so that's a relief.
Hm. Realized I have time to update my Vox account. Tomorrow Ramon and I go to the bank and the drugstore; the former to get the money for his blood test and x-ray, and the latter to refill his prescriptions. It's been a quick month, seems like just yesterday he had his last check-up. This is a very good thing so far. ::nods::
